Nice grounds

I’m a non smoker and people smoking and calling outside the front of the hotel and cigarette butts on the floor out me off sitting and eating outside

Food was very edible. View from front of hotel seating fabulous. Bar and breakfast staff cheerful.

Room was too hot (extreme weather), but at least we were provided with a fan to make it bearable. Room did not have a view (overlooking a flat roof) but the window was small and we had to keep the curtains closed) a bit claustrophobic daytime. Replenishing of breakfast dishes not very efficient people left waiting for things quite often.

Open outlook

The location was ideal for our needs. The grounds allowed a pleasant, short walk in fields. The bed was very comfortable. Our room was spacious enough to allow a small sofa. The staff were friendly and did their best to rectify things.

The worst thing was that I left a pair of shoes behind and they told me they were not allowed to post it on to me, even though I was trying to pay. The lunch menu was not actually available, but they did make an impromptu sandwich, which was very good in the end (and said they would give it to me). The dinner dishes were served to the wrong table, but rectified. The food was pub standard, I expected more. We were there during one of the heatwaves, but there was only a fan, not A/C. It's an old building so adaptations would be hard. The shower temperature was hard to control, although good once it was set up. Things ran out quickly at breakfast, including hot water for tea. It took a while to sort out, but everything that we and others asked for did arrive eventually. Needed more sockets in the bedroom, ideally one each side of bed for phone charging. It all feels just a bit off the pace.
