Playitas Hotel - Sports Resort

Clean rooms good food, nice beach, very good sports facilities

Playitas is an amazing resort for active people and a true paradise if you enjoy sports. The range of activities is outstanding, and the sports facilities are superb. There are countless classes to choose from, as well as organised group activities, from fitness sessions to social walks and runs. The resort also has excellent pools, including quieter areas that are perfect for relaxing after training. One of the highlights is the hill next to the resort, which is great for a hike or an uphill run with fantastic views. The atmosphere is very different from a typical holiday resort. Guests are generally like-minded people focused on sport, health and an active lifestyle rather than drinking and partying. Most people enjoy a drink with dinner or at the bar but head to bed early to make the most of the morning activities. If you're looking for a lively party scene, this probably isn't the right place—but if you appreciate a peaceful, healthy environment, it's hard to beat. The location is also very peaceful and secluded, with only a small village about a 5–10 minute walk away. Despite being quiet, there is plenty of parking available, making it easy to explore the island by car.

There are a few areas that could be improved. The quality of the evening buffet was inconsistent—we stayed for 10 days, and the food was excellent roughly once every three days, while on the other evenings the selection felt quite limited. Some of the healthy cocktails were also disappointing, occasionally tasting as if overripe fruit or even traces of washing-up liquid had been used. Service was another weak point. Waiting times could be long, plates were frequently dropped in the restaurant, and the lunchtime service at Bottega was often slow, with some staff giving the impression they lacked motivation. Some parts of the main resort look a little dated and would benefit from refurbishment. The Kids Club staff had limited English, and only full-day sessions (€20) are available, with no half-day option, which is both inconvenient and expensive. For swimmers, the Olympic pool was a little too warm in the evenings, and lane bookings can only be made in 60-minute increments. Offering also 90-minute sessions would be a very practical option for many guests who do swim (triathletes for example).

We as a couple had 2 twin beds attached together instead of one. The beds would move. I found it very uncomfortable.

Loved the atmosphere of healthy people all around, the staff was great, loved the cats and enjoyed the training from Aida and Joao.

Instead of two beds pushed together, one big queen or king mattress would be better
