The last room given to me although refurbished was outside near pool was cold and quite noisy, Staff tried to adjust heater but unfortunately it didn't help.

Good facilities given the cost. Lovely breakfast also.

No steam room but it isnt very surprising given the cost to stay here which is very reasonable. Its a little walk from the town centre and not in the most scenic of locations but it does make it very easy to find and park and its worth noting that there is a very pleasant walk into town alongside the river on the Tarka trail which is much nicer than walking along the pavement.

This a clean, bright, and comfortable hotel where a lot of care has clearly been invested in training its staff: they were unfailingly cheerful and obliging. My room (no. 6) was spotlessly clean and fresh: the bed was next-level comfortable. From the moment you check-in with reception you are made to feel special. I was staying to walk a leg of the Tarka Trail (Taw estuary) down to Instow: the desk staff gave really good advice on where to pit-stop and the weather prospects (which, being late November, were pretty bleak). This kind of local knowledge is priceless and marks out a good hotel from a faceless organization. The pool is a major bonus: its staff explained everything very well. The breakfast offer is very hearty: brilliant if you have day of tough walking ahead. Even the guy at check-out was smiley and up for a chat: many hotels just see you out the door. If you are in Barnstaple, don't stay anywhere else.

A tiny detail: is there a water fountain for recharging water bottles? I couldn't find one--but the bar staff obliged. No deal-breaker in such a great stay.

A fabulous mini break hotel with super friendly staff

Everything! Stayed after a festival enroute to camping so a bit of luxury and a good nights sleep was required and this hotel was perfect - the swim was a bonus! The hotel has been totally renovated and is immaculate - it has a bit of a motel vibe as the rooms wrap around the pool. The breakfast was fabulous and service & staff were so friendly and helpful. Accidentally left 2 shirts in the wardrobe and they were rescued and sent on with no problems. Totally recommend.

Hotel was great, convenient for our work. Would definitely stay again

The room was lovely and very clean. The bathroom door was broken but they offered to fix this straightaway. We were unable to use the pool as it was full every day. This was a shame as I was looking forward to using it after work.

Fantastic hotel

The hotel was spotlessly clean. The outdoor and indoor pools were warm and the changing rooms were lovely. The food was very good with plenty of choice for breakfast and very nice bar food. The staff were friendly and polite. Wouldn't hesitate staying again.

Wonderful the children loved the hotel would like to stay again!

The pools were lovely, and my daughter went every day. The room was comfortable, and we were situated at the back of the hotel. Unfortunately, we did hear the workman working on a broken panel for two mornings. The breakfast had a great variety of food; we were spoiled for choice, and we ate an evening dinner that was also nice.

The only thing would be to have more activities for the kids.

Hidden gem with comfortable facilities and great pools

Lovely large room with comfortable bed and bathroom. Fab pool inside and out. Great free parking, nice reception staff and staff responded quickly to calls and messages via booking.com Accommodated our cot request Loved the air con and fan! And staff were quick to provide an iron and extra coffee

One member of the pool reception staff were quite rude. Some building works took place outside our room without notice, however it was a Monday and past 9am

I think it’s over priced however very good location

I like the lobby very good size outdoor and indoor swimming pool water is very warm. Breakfast was also very good and tasty. Staff are very helpful. It’s very clean I can’t complain 👌

From the furnitures and The bathroom definitely needs updating, the toilet is very old and worn. The bath is also worn. Tiles are very old. The room is very tiny. For a family room the room is over priced the view from the balcony wasn’t very good. However cleanliness 9/10 👌

worst nights sleep ever

Hotel is clean and tidy. restaurant serves good quality food

my room must have been the noisiest room i have ever stayed in. due to driving for most of the day i went to bed at around 9 PM. there was a constant noise of the gate to the pool banging which i could have put up with but there was also a door which was either into the changing rooms or above me that made the loudest bang ever. and it was constant until around 11PM then silence until 6AM the next day. the room was room 1.

Great facilities, helpful staff!

The facilities were fantastic. Two pools literally outside our door. There were lots of families so the pools were sometimes too jammed with noisy kids to be relaxing or romantic in any way. That said, the staff were great and really helpful.

Not happy with the price. Would have been a lot cheaper if I had gone directly to hotel.

Location of our room was not good. Room 2. Toilet seat not right for toilet. Needs a blind in bathroom for privacy. Change the metal gate to pool area. To much of a pinch point outside the door. People have to stop by the door. And have a conversation. Better sound proofing between rooms.

Could do better, but compliments on the breakfast.

Clean, fresh up to date rooms, pity about all the scaffolding around the building and the fish factory outlook. Breakfast was very good, perfect scrambled eggs, poached and fries eggs cooked on the pass, everything cooked in small batches so all very fresh but sometimes had to wait a minute or two.

The coffee in the lounge was really poor, very weak, undrinkable actually, asked for another, they increased the shots to three, still only just drinkable. I do feel this was a machine error but the young lady serving was unable to work that out and just kept persevering.I have never had to increase shots or complain about coffee anywhere before, some better than oothersbut never undrinkable.

Could have done with a softer pillow. Didn’t get chance to use pool etc but all looked good and well maintained.
