Shangri-La Tanjung Aru, Kota Kinabalu

We had a great family trip overall. It would be nice to have more information and promotions about the beach activities. The activity booth was only open in the morning, so it was difficult to get information later in the day. The staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, my husband got food poisoning (we're not sure where it came from, as we ate both inside and outside the resort). The lobby was quite far from our room, and the staff kindly gave us a buggy ride, although it didn't go all the way to the parking area. The resort clinic was only open during office hours, but there were several private clinics nearby if needed.

It was only upon arrival that we found out the resort was under renovation and our room no longer has a sea view. It would be helpful to be informed earlier. We saw mixed reviews about this place understood why. The room was a bit worn out as the furniture was old and not very clean. We noticed a stain behind the toilet cover (but it was fortunate that on the next day a staff wipe it down). The water temperature of the shower is sometimes unstable. It is a nice place for families who would like to hang out, but facilities are old. Nevertheless, the view from the waterfront is pretty and popular to see the sunset. But all in all, for this price range, we would rather pick another hotel.

The food was not the usual shangrilla standard, selection was okay but taste was not there for the expectation we has. Bed was comfortable but hotel facilities were old
