The welcoming staff impeccably trained - the dinner was outstanding - the individuality of the hotel and its artefacts - it took me straight back to my 4 childhood skiing holidays in the hotel Languard in Pontresina in the Engadine!! The view of the lake with the snow capped mountains in the background was a sight to behold this mouth not a cloud in the sky!
The only slight blight was the hot water in our room (2) took for ever to heat and was never more than warm. I did report this to reception on exit who apologised and said they would rectify the matter. Let’s hope so.

All meals were exceptional in quality & preparation.
In particular the five course meals on Christmas eve & on Christmas day. Flavours & presentation that I have not experienced before.
The staff were without exception polite & helpful. They were also very knowledgable about the area. What I also liked was the fact that most of them were from local families.
It was also very nice to have the owner mixing with guests & sharing his deep history of both the hotel & the area.
The hotel was exceptionally clean with staff on every floor.
The only area of improvement would be an update of my bathroom fitments.

The staff, ambiance and food are all excellent and having stayed before, it lived up to my expectations. I can thoroughly recommend The Hotel Victoria and I shall be going back.

The hotel was recommended by our close Geneva friends and they were right about how special this hotel is. Both myself and my wife and son travel regularly and have been to luxury properties around the world and this is the best. What we found exceptional is the attention to detail and meticulous customer service with family members and owner engaged in greeting clients and ensuring their hotel is run well. It is a classy hotel full of culture, art, exceptional dining, breathtaking views, family friendly, historic property yet better maintained than the best new five star hotel and tops all expectations to a level of perfection better than all historic luxury properties.
Could use a couple of more gym equipment, however not necessary as the the mountain walks and hiking around the property more than makes up for that and the sauna in the gym and massage spa service is of excellent quality.

The amazing room overlooking the lake just blew me away with how wonderful it was.
Some guests smoked in the lounges by the patio, and this occasionally leaked into the hotel. I think more boundaries need to be in place.

Entering the hotel was like opening a time capsule, in a good way. The art and sculptures are remarkable. The hotel is outside of Montreaux, accessible by the cog train, so the views over manicured lawns of the lake are magnificent. The pool was lovely and the staff were all unfailingly friendly. The breakfast was superb. The room was spotlessly clean and large.
We did not eat dinner at the restaurant because the price was very high.
Smoking is allowed in the outside area so there is a lingering smell of smoke.

Beautiful hotel, the views are absolutely stunning. Set slightly uphill with easy access to montreux via train or funicular. The style is old school European elegance which is charming. Staff and service extremely good.
Although the classic decor is lovely it would be beneficial to have a slightly more modern bathroom.

Nothing. All was perfect.

what an excellent place to stay, besides its fine heritage and family ownership it was an environment stunning and just relaxing. Service was impeccable and just 100% there - rare these days.

We have been coming here since 1988 when we discovered it by accident and love it. As you ascend the mountain you enter into a more elegant age. It’s not whizzy high tech but is beautiful and to eat on the terrace overlooking the lake is magical.
Breakfast scrambled eggs are amazing.
The pool and gardens overlooking Lake Geneva are beautiful
My shower pressure was a bit weak - ok - but not brilliant but we were on the top floor. The room was great though.

Beautiful place. After a long flight we were able to relax immediately. The view and the surrounding grounds aloud us to feel totally calm.

Superb location some 1000ft above Lake Geneva/Le man. Exquisite olde worlde (Belle Epoch) charm. Outstanding welcoming, efficient, thoightful and thoroughly 'professional' service, delivered by a hotel which was fully staffed, knowledgable and courteous. The building is full of 19thC object d'arte, and feels like a living time capsule from a bygone era... which matches the perfect service. The food was excellent in both quality and presentation.
The views from our lake-facing rooms were almost too beautiful to describe. Mountains, lake, sunsets, silence. Near perfect. Room service was similarly near perfect, with delightful details, such as 'foot-mats' by the bedside, sheets turned down correctly for bed-time, complimentary mineral water, and a lovely range of tasteful odds-n-ends on the expansive bathroom.
It would be almost impossible to improve. Never, in all my 60+ years of travel and scores of hotels, have I found a place like this one.

The old fashioned room was fantastic and had also a good view. The garden and pool area are beautiful and the view is breathtaking. The breakfast was excellent both in terms of location and food.
The room bathroom could use some renovation. There is no AC in the hotel and we needed to ask for a fan since it got pretty hot even in June. The lobby and sitting area is a collection of old (not antique) pieces that are casually positioned in a very cluttered setting: it needs some redesign badly. The hotel is very expensive but, I suppose, that goes for everything in Switzerland. BTW, the city of Montreux is overrated.

Lovely old fashioned atmospheric hotel. Very high quality, very clean and well loved and cared for with excellent staff and lots of nice touches. The amazing hill top setting overlooking the lake is something I won't forget.
We stayed during the heatwave and the hotel does not have air-conditioning as is a period building, however we were provided with a good electric fan and were able to stay cool enough to sleep very well. Not a huge amount to choose from at breakfast for vegans but what there was was good quality and delicious( fruit salad and breads)

The staff was so so so nicee! Hospitality showed. Loved the vintage vibe of the hotel.
Although we preferred the location being a bit off beat, its little far from montreux station so you will need a cab to get your luggage. It's also very uphill so if you have suitcases better get a cab, lastly while this is just a personal thing, I wish breakfast could be more diverse and not just French

Warm initial reception, both by the front desk and the porter who showed us our room. We loved the period furniture in the room and attention to detail with bathroom towels etc and toiletries; the small food snack provided; the embossed writing paper; the Victorian heaters in cast iron; the lift which worked quickly; the beautiful gardens; the chance to eat breakfast outside; the opportunity to use the sauna and jacuzzi privately; the incredible breakfast spread; the extensive collection of art and objects of art the hotel displayed. The kindness of the hotel owner’s wife, who let us have one of the hotel’s clothes hangers with the hotel name upon it as a momento of the stay.
The view, from one of the side rooms, was not especially impressive, but then, we did pay proportionately less for it.

A magnificent, characterful, nineteenth-century hotel in an excellent state of preservation standing 2500ft above Montreux with correspondingly wonderful views across the lake. Excellent outdoor pool. Lovely period bar and restaurant, the outdoor section of the latter allowing full appreciation of the view while dining. Lovely (if correspondingly expensive) meals.
My comfortable room was beautifully decorated but the tiny ensuite bathroom (clearly carved out of the original room) was more suited to a two-star hotel than four. I could forgive this in the context but in any other circumstances would have regarded this as a major complaint. Tea and coffee-making facilities in the room would have been appreciated.

Everything about our stay was exceptional. The staff was so helpful and accommodating and our room was spectacular - so spacious with two bathrooms and a sitting area. We spent so much time on our balcony overlooking Lake Geneva and almost didn't want to go sightseeing because it was so relaxing and beautiful. Bonus - the sunsets both nights were absolutely amazing!
We drove our own car and the drive up is not for the weak of heart! Very tight turns with blind spots, so be very careful! Once we got to the property, parking was very limited but I suppose it was due to bad timing on our part as it was a Friday afternoon and the restaurant was booming. Later in the day I was able to move my car and find a great parking spot.

a big t stuffy and not a great location for doing anything

This may be listed as a four star hotel however the service is six stars (special shout out to Yazmin). The hotel is like being on the set of an Agatha Christie novel (in a good way) and a lesson in how to do things properly. Effortless, charming, stunning, old school brilliance. Thank you Hotel Victoria.
Outdoor pool being open all year round but I understand why it wasn't.

Where to start?! I suppose one has to start with the Proprietor /owner. Toni Mittermaier and his wife Barbara embody all that one could expect of professional lifelong hoteliers from this region. They were so welcoming to us, we felt like part of extended family.
The food and service were also top notch.
Pretty much nothing.
