Perfect holiday stay, we loved it

Beautiful house with everything you could need. Very cosy and homely with lovely furnishings. Immaculately clean. Perfect location in a quiet lane but very close to the main village. Great supply of wood for the fire and the hot tub.

Comfortable heat level,underfloor heating in the kitchen area. Good variety kitchen equipment Outside area with an excellent hot tub .

Very little - if I was very picky the Shower cubicle needs a bit of attention-purely because all other areas are of a high standard.

Love Ballater but the cottage didn’t come up to my expectations

Situation

Missing a few basic requirements. eg. only 1 small waste paper bin in the whole house. First aid box had a piece of lint, thread and no plasters. Bed linen although clean , pillowcases were very crushed - didn’t look well laundered. Mouldy bread in bin obviously left from previous guests.

Spacious, cozy cottage in a good location for walking.

The cottage/house has a very spacious main level. Giant ktichen, well stocked with appliances* Living room with 2 sofas and TV was lovely for gathering and keeping our 2.5 yr old occupied. Bedrooms upstairs were cozy enough. Nice modern bathroom with soak tub. Truly lovely little patio/garden area viewable thorugh windows of a dining area/sunroom, with another pull out sofa bed. Suited our group of 6. The village is charming. Very walkable. Close to places to eat. The hosts were quite communicative. They did need to do some maintenance work in the yard during our stay, but allowed us a late check-out for the trouble.

*Appliances: No operating instructions. A very 'fancy' large coffee/espresso machine. Quite confusing. As a visitor from the U.S. it was not one we commonly have. No coffee beans on site. Had to wing it. The washing machine was equally complex for us - and no dryer. Rainy weather prevented use of 'drying lines'. Oven was very foreign. Opted not to test it. Most places in Ballater don't open until 10am. We are early risers. This left us the CoOp grocery store to get coffee and breakfast items. Recommend shopping and stocking the kitchen.

Great cottage in a great location

We've been coming to Ballater for many years and love it as there is so much to see and do, the location is amazing and the scenery is beautiful. We stayed in this cottage a few years back. This cottage is slightly more expensive than many others in and around Ballater but it's the most comfortable we've stayed in for sure. The bedrooms and bathrooms are great and there is a super large dining table full of light. On this visit, the hosts we're really accommodating and the hot tub really made our stay one night when it was cooler. We hope to return.

Cute & cozy cottage

Very quaint & cute. Located right in the town for easy walking. Host was very responsive to accommodate certain requests. Comfortable mattress. Jacuzzi was a nice addition & fun to fill & set up with wood & fire.

There was a very nice espresso machine but no coffee for guests to enjoy for at least the first morning. I think having some coffee for guest’s first morning is a must.

Amazing location and super special accomidation

Exceptional property. The cottage is so lovely - the saddest thing was leaving! The hot tub was an amazing feature. The hoists kept in regularly contact. The location is amazing. Thanks so much and can't wait to stay again.

This is a gorgeous cottage in a perfect location - the ideal place to come for relaxation, beautiful outdoors and a base

The cottage was in an absolutely perfect location - the town of Ballater is just beautiful, with plenty of walking and outdoor activities nearby. Definitely worth a visit to Balmoral Castle while you are there! The beds were super comfy and we loved the bird feeder outside the window.

Central quirky cottage with hot tub in beautiful surroundings. Great weekend getaway.

Beautiful cottage with all amenities and hot tub. Wonderful surroundings and central location. Owners very helpful and cut up wood for us for the wood fired hot tub as we found it difficult. Fantastic break.

Cutting up logs for woodburning hot tub - bit to dangerous to cut yourself and found it difficult. Would not have minded buying them from owners. Hot tub wonderful though once it got going. Single beds were more for children/teenagers than adults but main king sized bed luxurious. Location and cottage awesome and definitely worthy of visiting. Great area and lots of walks, coffee shops, boutiques and awesome scenery. Owners top notch and very helpful. Five stars.

Location was perfect. Cottage was very nice. Loved the conservatory and the underfloor heating. Beds were so comfy and bathroom beautiful.

The outdoor hot tub was hard work and it took ages to heat up. No bubbles, so disappointing.

Not much hot water. Very dark in the kitchen - lights not bright enough. TV wasn’t the easiest to use and hadn’t been checked in a while - so had to update lots of programs. Plus we kept having to turn the box on/off in order to get the sound working.

Perfect cottage in a great location for a visit to Royal Deeside.

Big kitchen, great beds, good shower and nice outside space. We also liked the log fire and the central heating!

Only very minor things - log fire was full of ash, and there was no dustpan and brush for a quick tidy up. Also the fire alarm was extremely sensitive and went off every time we made toast.

a very pleasant stay

It had an outdoor space with chairs. A nice dinning table and reasonable kitchen equipment. It was close to ballater where there were restaurants and shops. It was close to Balmoral castle.

The parking is on the road a short walk from the cottage and sometimes it was difficult to get a space. The cottage is eco- friendly and although it has a washing machine it does not have a tumble dryer, there is however a clothes rack for drying clothes.

Cleanliness very poor indeed, not Covid Safe and I dread to think what is microbes are growing inside the cupboards where crockery is stored. Needs a deep clean. Property is not worth the money, paintwork needs re doing inside and out. Not as described!

Wonderful!

The cottage was charming, beautifully clean and in a great location. Things were clearly marked. We used the bed settee, which was easy to put together and surprisingly comfortable. We enjoyed the Trivial Pursuit, published before the year 2000, so really out of date! 😂🤣 My daughter really enjoyed using the coffee machine too! It goes without saying that the area is absolutely stunning. I was brought up in Banchory, so it is home to me. The drive from Ballater to Banchory and then across to Stonehaven is breathtaking!

The downstairs loo door would not lock, which was slightly disconcerting! We ran out of loo roll and had to buy more, which I wouldn’t have expected. Those were minor inconveniences though, generally it was great!

Pretty cottage in superb location with lovely sunny outside space. Excellent communication with owner. Very comfy beds and pretty decor.

Towels could have been a bit fluffier and fresher. A few light bulbs in kitchen needed replaced. Minor issues, as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
