Very cool! Kids were in heaven and a massive bargain in midwinter.

The themed rooms were so cool, the kids loved them!

It was a bit hard to find. We couldn’t stay in the theme we wanted cos the wifi wasn’t working and of course none of the other amenities like food were open but that’s what you get when you visit in the middle of winter!

Beautiful views, lovely room, our 7 year old child loved the decor. Extremely quiet in December as all was shut. We had a lovely time regardless, thank you

The heating was for some reason controlled from the reception. We couldn’t regulate the temperature. We were visiting in December.

Matlock stay

Its in prime location walking distance we stayed off peak everything shut sat nav hard to find had to stop its great for kids in summer plenty to do good kids

Program sat nav up took us to carport it was dark not very good sign posted had to stop ask then we cud not find our room

Great for a short break with the kids, cheap & cheerful!

Staff were very helpful, kids loved the games room which you can bring your own food into and they had a film playing whilst we ate our takeaway. The shower was so powerful & they let us leave our car parked on site whilst we went exploring to save driving round looking for a car park.

Rooms are on the small side and the double bed was just 2 singles pushed together which was uncomfortable.

Fun hotel for kids.

Quiet location, working TV, plenty of pillows and towels. Decor and set up great for kids.

One ground floor room booked had an offensive odour. Management offered to clean the room which would not have helped as very strong throughout the unit. We booked 3 rooms and all could do with clean shower curtains. In my room both cups were unwashed - had dried sugar stuck and stains at the bottom and the bathroom sink was blocked. Was hard to find in the dark. We were unaware we had to press an intercom on a wall next to a barrier at the bottom of a hill to gain access. Also unaware we could not get breakfast here.

Apartment was really charming and beds extremely comfortable. All nice and clean. Good space. The website photos don't do it justice! Good parking area. Really quiet but also a great base for nearby town centre.

If being picky, shower gel was empty and we couldn't work out how to get the cooker hob to work, but nothing bad to spoil our trip.

Explorers Retreat...would go again

Easy to find, plenty of space, the children loved it, adults loved it...grandparents loved it.. we were able to be all together.

Wasn't wheelchair friendly, but manageable. Take coffee milk and sugar, there are facilities but no stock.

food was awful evening meal was really cold and had to be sent back rest breakfast the bacon was so over cooked it was card and couldn’t eat it so had to be sent back. 2 family members ended up with no breakfast

We had not realised that the beds for the kids was in a small box room. At the games room there was no football for the table football. There was not much to do for a long rainy evening. TV did not work properly. No youtube

Great place

We stayed in a Princess room. It was perfect for us and 3 grandchildren. They loved the bunk beds and balcony, which we watched the fireworks at the river from. Staff were fabulous. Very helpful, nothing too much trouble. Kids entertainment in the evening was fun. Small playground to amuse the kids while we packed etc. We walked down to the town and river, which was very steep, but very doable, even with a pushchair. Great place, we had a ball, can't wait to come back.

Too many lollipops given out as prizes in the eve entertainment, sorry, but stickers or equivalent would be better please. Everything else was great. Also...sorry, just remembered, the water in the hot taps is extremely hot. Watch it.

The kids really loved the Room's setup. the got their own bed and it's pleasant!

Pirate room stay for illuminations

We stayed in a pirate themed room and our daughter loved the theming. We noticed little mice painted on the walls, by switches and plugs in the room and our daughter really enjoyed finding them - a really lovely quirky touch! The bathroom was clean and modern. Breakfast was reasonably priced.

The room had a bit of a damp/musky smell to it - it wasn't terrible but it was a bit off putting.

We always enjoy staying here, the views are amazing, the staff are always so friendly, the rooms are clean and comfortable. Plenty for the kids to do. No doubt we will book again in the future. Love Matlock Bath
