The room itself was excellent. It was spacious, comfortable, and spotlessly clean throughout our stay. The housekeeping team did a fantastic job every day and this was definitely one of the highlights of the hotel. Unfortunately, the service elsewhere didn’t match the standard of the rooms.

Unfortunately, the service elsewhere didn’t match the standard of the rooms. It was low season, but it often felt as though the staff had mentally checked out. They were frequently gathered chatting together or looking at their phones, and there was very little sense of attentiveness. The restaurant was particularly disappointing. On several occasions we ordered food only to be told they had run out of key ingredients such as avocado or naan bread, meaning a number of menu items simply weren’t available. Breakfast was another letdown. On our first morning there was a fantastic buffet with plenty of choice. However, for the rest of our stay it changed to an à la carte breakfast because of the low number of guests. While I understand the reason for this, it would still have been nice to have access to simple things like making our own toast and using the coffee machine rather than waiting to be served. One morning we were even woken by a phone call asking what time we would be coming to breakfast, which wasn’t something I appreciated while on holiday. The bar service also left a lot to be desired. Every time we wanted a drink we had to go looking for a member of staff. Although the bar was advertised as closing at 11pm, by around 10:20pm the bottles had already been put away, making it feel as though we were inconveniencing the staff by ordering. On our final evening, all of the comfortable seating had already been cleared away before closing time, which reinforced the feeling that guests were expected to finish early. Overall, the accommodation and housekeeping were excellent, but the atmosphere created by the staff and the lack of attention to guest service meant the hotel didn’t live up to its potential. I appreciate that it was low season, but that shouldn’t make guests feel like an inconvenience. It felt less like low season and more like “lazy season.”
