About this apartment rental
Looking for a quiet, relaxing beachfront place with a pool, fabulous view of the Caribbean, and just a short walk to the Old City? Casa Barbara Cartagena is a furnished, two bedroom/2.5 bath modern apartment with AC, hot water, wifi & balcony -- perfect for two couples, a couple of friends, or a small family! It is my home when in Cartagena but available for 30+ night stays when I am not in town.
The apartment is on the 15th floor with a balcony that goes the length of the apartment. You'll love watching the sun set each evening over the Caribbean! You also have a great view north to the Marbella/Crespo area of the coast and beyond, as well as a sneak peak from the balcony at the part of the Old City wall called "La Tenaza."
The building is in the Cabrero district and was built in 2010, has 24 hour reception, two elevators; and a pool (15Mx4M), jacuzzi, sauna, & social area on the 7th floor.
Each bedroom has night tables, reading lamps, small desk with chair, full length mirror, a private full bath with walk in closet, floor to ceiling sliding glass doors which lead out to the balcony & hammock just outside the door!
--Bedroom 1 has the option of two XL twin beds (1 x 2 meters each) or a king bed (2 x 2 meters)
--Bedroom 2 has a US standard queen sized bed bed (1.53 x 2 mts)
The kitchen is well-stocked for cooking & eating and there is counter seating plus a table for four. The living area has a nice seating plus opens right up to the balcony, where this is a table with chairs. There is a half bath off the living area.
In addition, there is a laundry area with washer/dryer, clothes drying racks & laundry sink.

I lived in Cartagena for over two years and would be happy to help in any way I can either via email/phone prior to your arrival or during your stay. In addition, Walter & Tara, a US couple who have lived in Cartagena for 10+ years and who live a 7 minute walk from the apartment, will help as needed while you are there.
House rules:
*No smoking/vaping (not even on the balcony), drugs or pets
*No parties or loud music
*Guests pay for any damages beyond normal wear & tear
*Non-registered guests only with prior permission; no overnight unregistered guests allowed
*I will need to supply the building administration with full names and an ID number (passport or cédula) for all members of your party in order for you to be allowed to enter the building
*Please turn off AC, fans, lights, etc, whenever you leave the apartment
*There is a keyless entry system for the apartment; code will be given to you during the week prior to your check-in.
I also work with short term rentals in Belize.

We spent a wonderful four weeks in Cartagena at Casa Barbara, and everything exceeded our expectations. The apartment is a 10 minute walk from the old city, overlooks the beach and was very comfortable with all amenities. The long balcony facing the sea was so enjoyable and Edificio Zafiro is beautifully maintained by friendly, courteous staff, and the doormen were always very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Renting from Barb was an absolute pleasure from start to finish, and she couldn’t have been more responsive and helpful. Tara, Barb’s associate, was just as responsive and helpful, and Mary kept the place spotless with seemingly boundless energy. My friends and I stayed at Casa Barbara and it completely exceeded our expectations. The oceanview from both bedrooms was breathtaking, and the apartment itself was excellently decorated. It had all the amenities you could ask for, like strong wifi, a washer/dryer, A/C, and hot water, plus some added bonuses like a coffee maker and hair dryers. Everything was clearly labeled with instructions for easy use, and on the coffee table there was a book that provided great tips for what to do during our stay! On many days we took a quick 10 minute walk to the walled city to explore in the mornings and then spent the afternoons relaxing by the pool (which also has an oceanview). There was also a supermarket on the way back to the apartment from the walled city where we bought our groceries.
It was the perfect place to spend a relaxing stay!

Stunning views from the balcony, delightful sea breezes, immaculately maintained & well-equipped apartment, very informative & responsive host -- we couldn’t have asked for anything more! Casa Barbara was the perfect place for an extended stay for my son and me while volunteering in and exploring Cartagena. From the information that Barbara provided, we knew how to easily navigate to the Old City and beyond, arrange for a home cooked Colombian meal, purchase fresh fruit/vegetables from the nearby vendor, join a Salsa/Latin dance class, dine on delicious meals at local restaurants, visit museums on “free days” :-) , and more. Next time we will consider availing ourselves of Spanish classes also! I would highly recommend Casa Barbara!

Four of us stayed at Casa Barbara in April, 2018. We had a fabulous stay in this beautifully maintained condo. The beds are comfy, we loved having 2.5 baths, beach and bath towels are readily available, and we were so pleased to have wifi, AC, hot water, and a washer/dryer! The kitchen is well equipped and everything is modern and clean. The view from the balcony is incredible, and the hammocks are a wonderful touch. Building security is good, and the pool is a wonderful option. The location is conveniently located to both the airport and the Old City. Barbara communicated well throughout the process, and we loved having all of the provided information about tours, places to visit, and things to do. We will stay here again!
