Takeya Kitano Bekkan

Traditoneel van buiten, modern van binnen. We verbleven hier met z'n vijven 4 nachten en dat was prima. Boven zijn 2 slaapkamers en een badkamer, beneden nog een slaapkamer voor 2 personen met futonbedden. Beneden is ook een erg ruime moderne slaapkamer. De keuken is ruim en modern. De woning is in een rustige buurt, buiten het directe centrum en met het OV goed te bereiken. De bushalte is op loopafstand. Op loopafstand is ook een grote supermarkt.

Le lieu était extraordinaire, on se sent comme chez soi. Les équipements sont très soignés et complets: machine à laver sèche-linge, machine à café nespresso avec capsule, lave-vaisselle avec produit…

Un peu excentré mais facile à se déplacer avec le bus. Près du pavillon d’or.

We booked both Takeya Kitano Honkan and Bekkan together for a group of 8 (some people wanted their own room). We used the spacious kitchen/dining and living room of Honkan for everyone to socialise together but Bekkan on its own would be fine for a family or small group of friends. This machiya is furnished in modern Japanese style with a small but functional kitchen/dining/living room that looks out onto a charming courtyard garden. The bathroom features a cedar bathtub. Two compact bedrooms upstairs with twin beds in each and a small tatami room downstairs can sleep 1-2 on futons, adjacent to the living area. The location is fabulous in the heart of Kyoto's oldest hanamichi (geisha district) of Kamishichiken, lots of charm and authenticity without the tourist hordes. 5 min walk to supermarket, 7-eleven etc, several restaurants in the immediate neighbourhood and easy access to downtown Kyoto by bus or taxi. Beautiful Kitano Tenmangu shrine is just at the end of the street. Communication with the owner during the booking process was very good.
