Batad Transient House

The host Irene was incredible! Definition of hospitable, and was so lovely and helpful, she even offered to be our guide on the first day. She’s so funny and kind, and a brilliant cook (she made the best pancakes we’ve ever had!). The view from the homestay was also gorgeous.

The toilet facilities were okay, but not brilliant. Still absolutely fine and definitely did the job though.

The host Ms Irene is excellent host all we need were provided for with quick response and all our tour guides are all knowledgeable. Local breakfast is the best

とにかく棚田の眺めが素晴らしく、ベストな角度で全景を見渡すことができるので、滞在中はずっとこれを目にできるのが最高です。９号室は角部屋で、部屋の窓からも棚田を眺めることが可能。部屋の前にもバルコニーがありました。 食事は朝昼晩と提供されており、1食200～300ペソくらい、コーヒーやお茶は50ペソでした（2025年2月時点）。食事代は帳面に記録しておき、チェックアウト時にまとめて現金で支払います。GlobeのSIMカードは圏外でしたが、15ペソのバウチャーを購入することでWifiを4時間利用できました（有効期限は12時間以内）。 客室内にコンセントが無く、廊下に見つけたのでそちらを利用しました。シャワートイレは共用で1つありますが、水量を弱くすればお湯も出てきて、肌寒い季節でも大丈夫でした。石けん・トイレットペーパーは置いてあります。 村周辺を一周するガイド料金は1200ペソが基本とのこと。ビューポイントと滝を訪れ、帰りに下側の集落を見て戻るルートですが、この日は悪天候で滝へは行けませんでした。村内はガイド無しで歩くことも可能なようですが、田んぼのあぜ道や畝を歩くため、どこを通ってよいのか分かりづらく、素直にガイドを頼んだほうが無難です。 バナウェ⇔バタッド間の公共ジプニーは1日1往復で、朝9時にバタッドを出てバナウェに向かい、折り返し15時にバナウェを出てバタッド村へ戻る運行。地元民は50ペソですが、外国人料金は200ペソと決められているようで、誰に聞いてもその値段だったので正当な設定のようです。自分はバナウェの町からあえて徒歩でバタッド村へ向かいましたが、途中の風景も素晴らしく、5時間かかりましたが良い体験ができました。 今回は行きませんでしたが、バタッド村からマオヤオへ向かって歩き、そこから午後にバナウェへ戻るプランもできるそうで、時間と予算に余裕があれば行ってみてもよさそうです。

村の共用駐車場（車道の終点）から山道を歩いていきますが、最初の分岐点にある宿の案内看板の矢印が違う方向を向いており、途中で迷ってしまいました。矢印は左を向いていますが、右側がメインルートで、そちらへ進んだほうがアップダウンが無くて楽です。商店のところへ突き当たったら左の小学校へ進み、学校前を右に下ると2つ目の看板があるので、そこを右の階段を下っていけば宿に到着します。駐車場から宿までは徒歩20～30分ほど要します。山道と階段なので、大きな荷物やスーツケースはNGですので、身軽に向かいましょう。村へ出かけている間、大きな荷物はバナウェの町の宿で預かってくれることが多いようですので尋ねてみてください。

Food is certainly not good. Below average. The best ones probably are the grilled chicken which is quite expensive and the chicken adobo, the rest were not good. Our last dinner was burnt, it was pork tocino and a very tiny two pieces of longanisa. My partner and I were very disappointed. Food was very basic. There were insects and spiderwebs everywhere. Seems like the house wasnt cleaned properly but our room was clean at least. The mosquito net have many holes so we had to cover it using a tissue paper. Towels are worn out. They gave us this feeling 'they're all in it together', prices was obviously higher cos my partner is a foreigner in both tours, food, and transpo. Irene's 'supposedly' brother, offered us a ride to banaue, when I asked for the price, she said 200 pesos per person, Irene said it was the normal price. So we agreed, as we walked to the jeepney station, we asked around for the real price, one girl told us it costs 60 pesos. Even if she is a student, the price will most likely be around 100 pesos but not 200. We felt scammed. Shower has no hot water, Irene gave us this steamer, but it wasnt enough to heat the very cold water.
