    Only 3 hotels with pools on the islands. Quick peak at others lead me to think that this was the best of the 3. The other 2 were in Don Det town while this was on Don Khone just over the bridge. Hospitality is always a strong point in Laos culture and this hotel was no different. Nice pool (wish it was on the riverside). Covered and uncovered dining riverside was nice. Food and drinks were ok but a little pricey. Room was very spacious. We had 1st floor Riverside which was nice. Loved the window seat/bed for reading and relaxing. Wish they had a little beach or area directly on the riverside as the hotel was above river level. Small colored cement tables/stools (in the shape of mushrooms) on the small lawn in front of the rooms were very uncomfortable. They should have comfortable loungers or hammocks there as it has an angled view of the sunset. Location next to the old bridge connecting islands was nice. Some restaurants and commercial ventures surrounding the hotel and just across the river was convenient. Long walk into Don Det town so better with bikes/scooters. Hotel has a dock on the riverside so boat transfer directly to and from hotel is possible-very convenient.

    The hotel was great probably the best on the Don Khone site of the old railroad bridge. Nice clean swimming pool. Good size too, for a hotel. The buffet breakfast was OK with many Asian and European choices. Sadly in Lao people do not seem to realize farang like their eggs and pancakes warm. They make them and put them out, if they get cold and there are no takers, getting a hot fried egg of pancake becomes a dilemma. Still one of the better places and breakfasts in Lao. I wouldn't recommend the restaurant for lunch or dinner. The menu looks uninspired and the cook certainly didn't study with Gordon Ramsey. It's not like "avoid at all costs" If it's late and you are tired, it's OK to eat there. It's OK value for money but nothing special or outstanding. Contrary to all the rest of the hotel and staff which are truly outstanding.
