Kalisti Hotel & Suites

Stayed at Kalisti Hotel & Suites with my family of 4, in laws, their friends, and brother in laws' family of 4. It was a last minute booking, so we were grateful they could accommodate us at a reasonable price. Our room was spacious with comfortable bed and linens. Air conditioning worked well in the summer heat. Bathroom and floors were clean. Breakfast had a lovely variety of food and beverages. The timing was great for people who don't get up very early. Location was excellent with a very short walk to shops and restaurants. Having the supermarket across the street with extra convenient. Compliments to the reception staff, Aneta and Vasiliki! They were so warm and friendly with great personalities. They were keen to help, provided helpful tourist information, and graciously made accommodations for the elderly in our group.

The internet connection downstairs wasn't very strong, especially once you went into the rooms. We had to stay in the lobby on some occasions to get work done.

So close to Fira town and supermarket and pharmacy was right in front of the hotel so it was very convenient if you needed something asap. The staff is so helpful! Breakfast had a lot of variety and it was very tasty. Also, hotel is close to bus station so you can travel easily to other parts of the island. The room was comfortable and the balcony was a big plus!

The minor thing was the shower, it did not have door so water would pour to the floor.

Incredibly beautiful Hospitality

The hotel itself is nice, and the ladies at the front desk were always kind and helpful. However, my experience with the owner was extremely negative, and I feel it’s important for future guests to be aware of what happened.

My experience at this property was extremely upsetting and nothing like what I expected when I booked. I reserved two rooms for three nights, paying $2,438 in total. One of the rooms — the one-bedroom suite for two adults and two children — cost around $1,100 alone when I booked it. This was the room we specifically wanted. However, as soon as we landed, I received a message saying that the room would not be available until later that night. This was last‑minute notice, but I agreed to wait for the room we had paid for. In the meantime, they placed us in a very small temporary room. When we returned from dinner, we were told the room still wasn’t ready and wouldn’t be available until the next day. I asked politely for a similar room or an upgrade, since the temporary room was cramped and uncomfortable, but they claimed they had no other options. The next morning, they told us the room would be ready at 5 PM. We returned at that time, only to be told again that it would not be ready. At this point, the hotel was nearly empty, so I asked how it was possible that no rooms were available. The front desk said they would contact the owner. When I asked to speak with him directly, they told me he was not on the property. After speaking with him, the staff offered us a cabana room — smaller and without the jacuzzi we originally booked — but at least more spacious than the temporary room. I accepted it. Then they brought me a letter to sign stating that I would give them a 10/10 review on Booking.com in exchange for the room and for waiving the cost of a bottle of Moscato I had ordered. I refused. It was unprofessional and completely inappropriate. The next morning, the owner approached me in a confrontational and aggressive manner. He repeatedly spoke over me and accused me of “threatening” to leave a bad review, which never happened. All I had said to the staff was that I didn’t feel comfortable giving a perfect score because of the issues we experienced.
