Kimi Ryokan

The position and the atmosphere. I first came here in the 1990s and it is still lovely.

The futon wasn’t as thick as in some places, which meant that I didn’t sleep as well as I might have.

I was at Kimi Ryokan 26 years ago and it even got better than what it was! Perfect location, great facilities. It is a traditional ryokan (although a budget-friendly one), and the atmosphere is very special. It is not for everyone, but for those looking for authenticity and a friendly very special place: this is the best in Tokyo!!

Front desk staff were excellent. Could not do enough to help. Laundry was great bonus.

Building was quite hot

The Ryokan was a short walk to nearby stations which made transport convenient. It is a good place to stay if you are looking for a budget friendly location and don’t need the nicest amenities. A thin traditional robe and towels are provided. The shared shower is relatively clean and there are two on each floor.

This is not a traditional Ryokan, no meals are included in the stay. The room we stayed in had a moldy smell and was not clean. We did not receive fresh towels and we stayed for 3 nights, even though we did not put out a “do not disturb” sign. The sleeping mats were not comfortable. The bathroom is shared and was not always clean, I’m not sure that the staff cleans daily. Overall this wasn’t a bad stay but we were disappointed. If you are looking for a traditional ryokan, or a cleanly stay, I don’t recommend this hotel.
