Protea Hotel by Marriott Pretoria Hatfield

I loved the hotel room and the staff kindness at any times I've reached them.

Restaurant prices were a bit high.

The breakfast meal option is an essential inclusion in the stay. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The food is prepared wonderfully. And the staff at the restaurant are very friendly and kind. The room is clean and lit well. The tv channel options are up to standard. The bathroom has above-standard soaps, gels, lotions. The in-room food delivery service works very well: meals are delivered in a reasonable amount of time & these meals are sufficiently heated. There is enough cupboard space for your clothes. Conveniently, there is a shopping centre across the road. And there are several fast-food restaurants near the location. There is a good selection of teas & coffees in the room, with milk & sugars. Aircon works well.

The room telephone line is a problem, at times: I had to repeat myself several times to be understood. While in the shower the cleaning staff making their rounds just opened the door. The fire alarm was set off late one night: but that was because a guest showered without closing the bathroom door. This disturbed sleep. Staff need to remind guests about closing the door when showering. Certain guests upon arrival late made a noise. Guests need to be reminded to be considerate of others. I requested to print a document one morning and this request was accommodated but the printers (there are two) were not operational.

Security is a concern as anyone has access to the floors with the rooms. The elevator is by the main door and doesn't require card access, so anyone from outside can go into it and without passing reception.. Also the room wasn't as clean and as 'fresh' as shown in the pictures. It was dusty and some items are faulty and broken. Moreover the dishes I used were outside my door for two days. Housekeeping came and tidied my room but left the dishes.
