Good hotel in a good location and good price.

Comfortable and quiet given it’s on a main road. Parking onsite is a bonus. Bar area was very nice, staff very helpful.

Posters telling us the £17 per person breakfast would have been free if we hadn’t used booking.com. On principle we went into the town and had a great breakfast, cheaper at No38.

Comfortable,clean, warm & huge bed. Vegan breakfast was very good & ample.

It was a shame that there was only one evening meal option which could be made vegan. Also we're glad that we ordered 2 side dishes to accompany the main course as it was't a particularly large portion.

Gorgeous little hotel

Utterly fantastic hotel! Breakfast and evening meals available. Really excellent friendly staff in all areas. Room was perfect, shower was nice and strong. Had a dial a taxi thing on the desk too, so getting one to the station on leaving was easy

Adequate but disappointing

The property was close to town and full of character Breakfast was lovely and staff very pleasant

The room was scruffy and although the bed was comfortable the bedding did not look inviting. The carpet was grubby and could have done with a good vacuum. Maybe replace with same flooring as bathroom

An ideal place for my one night stay and if I need to I would be very happy to visit again.

For one night I had chosen a small room - it was but just big enough! Likewise the ensuite bathroom. Dinner however exceeded my expectations! A very good meal with plenty of choice - I would have been pleased with it if it had been an expensive restaurant. Breakfast was also good - once I had got over the idea of ordering it the night before: clearly cooked to order and again generous.

I was very glad my car was not a few inches wider... I hope there are alternative entry methods. Plenty of space when 'through the tunnel' however.

Location is close to town centre. Hotel is comfortable but no lift and lots of stairs to navigate. Great if only a short term stay.

Although the food was good, breakfast at £17 was steep for the portions. Even know it was unlimited continental, there wasn't much to choose from and hot breakfast wasn't unlimited. WiFi was horrible. Couldn't get a signal in my room in order to work.

Our room was quite tight, not enough room between the end of the bed and the wall. It was difficult to adjust the temperature of the shower- probably a water pressure issue.

Perfect, almost.

Gorgeous build, comfy room, spacious. Bar space inviting and relaxed.

A lot of steps. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast, but one minor detail was the butter seemed to be rationed. We asked for extra and was given another small pat, but I did hear other guests in the breakfast room muttering how they were going to portion out the butter pat, such an easy thing to put right😀

Nice budget hotel close to town with parking, friendly staff.

Lovely spacious clean room with lovely crisp sheets and bedding. Lovely old building with parking (residents charged £5 per day) The restaurant and bar looked lovely and inviting, we would have eaten there if we weren't seeing friends in town.

The lack of lighting at the dressing table meant my getting ready for the wedding we were in town for was relocated to the bathroom. The lack of bedside plug sockets meant we couldn't charge our phones overnight if we wished to look at them at any time after we had gone to bed. Also, booking via Booking.com seemingly means that breakfast is extra at a cost of £17(!). There was a sign at reception advising that had we booked direct the breakfast would have been complimentary. Left a bit of a bad taste in the mouth, who is paying that much for a breakfast? Room 7 was on the second floor, the stairs were extremely steep and wonky, I would not wish to stay there if I had any mobility issues, I did spy one disabled room right next to reception but be warned if you are not steady on your pins. Being in the centre of town the road noise is very loud should you wish to have your window open.

Great friendly hotel close to everything

Great location in a nice building. We walked to register office which was less than 10 mins away on foot. Lovely welcome on arrival she answered all our questions and was very helpful. Room for single use was small but clean and comfy for one night stay. Good shower. We had continental breakfast which was lovely and good value. Parking is £5 and convenient.

As I was in a small room the fridge is almost next to you when sleeping and its noise was irritating.

Great stay... two rooms for four adults

On arrival, a warm welcome, within a calming environment. The staff rearranged rooms for a disabled individual at short notice in a very professional and caring manner. In fact, nothing was too much trouble, including small touches like miniature bottles of fresh milk in the room fridge, as well as individual fresh fruit served in individual kilner jars, in a mini fridge for breakfast. Very clean and comfortable environment. 👌 Highly recommend 👌

Good value central location and I would stay here again next time I'm in Taunton

Convenient location and bar staff were helpful with late drinks. Breakfast and reception staff were friendly and helpful especially when I needed some documents printed

Breakfast was good and cooked fresh to order but I'd suggest a breakfast buffet might have worked better when in a bit of a rush. Each selection requested came as one item for each, whereas having two eggs or two sausages would have been more satisfactory.

Great food and service, but a poor night’s sleep ruined the stay.

Stayed at the Corner House Hotel last night. I chose it purely for the location, as it was close to where I needed to be the following day. The hotel itself is quite nice. The staff were excellent, very attentive, friendly, and really looked after you. The food was equally impressive. I had the Sunday roast, which was delicious and probably one of the best I’ve had in quite a while. Breakfast was also great, with a good variety, and my pre-ordered cooked breakfast arrived within minutes of sitting down.

That said, I wouldn’t choose to stay again, and that’s down to the room. While it was a double and clearly intended for solo travellers, it was very small. There wasn’t space for a bedside cabinet, meaning there was nowhere to put a phone or glass of water within reach, and no power sockets near the bed, only at the desk. The biggest issue was the lack of air-conditioning or a fan. I had to sleep with the window open, and because of the room’s location, I heard every vehicle that passed through the night. I was also woken at 6:40am by a delivery, including a full “Oh hello, good morning, how are you?” conversation between the driver and staff. Not the quietest of wake-up calls, to put it mildly. What made it more frustrating is that the hotel was clearly quite empty, being a Sunday evening going into Monday. I’m unsure why I was given that particular room, as I’m sure they’ve had feedback before about how noisy it is and how close it is to the road. The simplest option would have been to offer a quieter room instead. I also didn’t realise how bad the noise would be until I tried to go to sleep around 10:30pm, by which point there was no one available to speak to about changing rooms.

The room was just above the entrance to the hotel which meant that when guests arrived at 1.30am after a night out we had to listen to their conversations while they contacted the night porter as they all seemed incapable of remembering the number to gain access.

Perfect hotel for our evening to watch cricket

Was easily found and just off the main road. Rooms were large and well set out

the room smelt clean when i entered the room. the bathroom was clean and hygenic. plenty of tea?coffee choices. Fresh milk and biscuits a bonus. The staff were welcoming, helpful and professional the breakfast choice exceptional. lots of choice very good quality. i would stay again i would recommend to family and friends

Very poor sleeping experience at the hotel

Good location

Soundproofing does not exist at this hotel. I could hear every single step taken by other guests all around the building, especially the doors slamming noise was unbearable. The door literally shook every time someone was walking by or closing other doors. It was impossible to sleep. The windows are also not soundproof at all despite some extra glass and it felt like all the cars in town decided to have a race just outside the hotel. Really poor experience, I can’t recommend this hotel, unfortunately
