The location is beautiful. We came to hike in the national park. When we booked our room we did not realize how close it is to one of the trails leading into the park. This saved us from having to get a ride or find parking in the high-demand lots. The room had a small kitchenette with basic supplies, so it would be easy to stay multiple days and cook your own meals.
Communication with the host was excellent. She responded to requests promptly and made arrangements for our luggage when we were hiking.
The breakfast was fantastic with many options for people with different diet preferences/needs.
The restaurant next door (the only restaurant in Osterau) was very good and the people were friendly.
Because of a delay with the train we arrived after the check-in time. Communication with the host was very prompt and she provided instructions for finding our key. Unfortunately, they could have applied to a couple options. The bus dropped us off and we saw the Ostrauer Hof Gastette, which is in some of the pictures for the inn. However, this is a restaurant, not the inn. Following the instructions, we walked right through the middle of the outdoor dining area to the tree with the table and two wooden benches. However, it was the wrong location and we could not find our room or key. After exploring the property for a while, we realized the drive and entrance to the inn were further down the road from the bus stop. Once we figured that out we found our key.
The room decor has not been updated for some time, but everything was clean.
The train arrived late and we were not able to get an Uber. The bus driver was very rude and we were not sure he was going to take us to the proper stop (I do not speak German, he did not speak English).

Roomy, and nice restaurant attached.
Breakfast too late, prefer 06:30, but we found a nice bakery in the town.

It was very close to the national park
The ceilings were low and the walls thin. we could hear other guests through the walls. that was unpleasant and affected our sleep.
