We had a lovely welcome from a very helpful receptionist. Our room was ready early so we were able to check in a couple of hours earlier than expected. Lovely room with a lot of character and very comfortable bed. Breakfast was very good with any request catered for quickly and politely.
The bedroom had few electrical sockets so things needed unplugging to add anything extra such as a phone charger, and also swapping coffee maker with kettle socket.
The room was a little cold as the main radiator was not working but an electric radiator had been provided and was on when we arrived so the room was nice and warm. We slept with the cupboard door open as the water pipe to the bathroom was hot so allowed heat into the bedroom.

The hotel was incredibly charming, the decor and historical touches truly made the entire experience.
The bed was a bit firm and the pillows were either too thick and uncomfortable. The stains on the chairs and ottoman were off putting.

We had a complimentary upgrade, which made our stay even better. The breakfast and food served in the restaurant was of excellent quality.
The central heating boiler wasn't working for the duration of our stay. We were given an electric heater, which initially wasn't sufficient. We mentioned it at reception and were given a second one, which helped to warm the room.

When we got there, we were upgraded free of charge which was a nice surprise. We were given the best room, which had a big two-person bath in the room! This was lovely to experience, especially as we were there to try and relax, unwind for a night!
The room was a touch dated in decor but this didn't affect our stay whatsoever and was very inkeeping with it being in the Cotswolds

Wonderful historic building with modern comforts. Loved the separate toilet from the bath and 2 towel drying/warming racks. After getting soaked on one of our hikes, it was a godsend to be able to dry off our clothes and even shoes overnight. The restaurant was so delicious that we ended up having 3 dinners there for our 4 night stay. Just couldn't be bothered to go out into the cold and risk having a meal of a lesser standard. The great location right on high street 5 mins walk from the train station and the bus station less than a minute walk to get to Chipping Campden and Bourton on the Water made visiting the Cotswolds without a car an ease. Will definitely stay at the White Hart Royal again.
It was a minor thing but mostly a personal preference, the pillows could be a bit puffier. The toilet tank took a long time to refill so if you needed a second flush, you have to wait about 5 minutes. A little inconvenient for 2 people. Just took a bit getting used to.

A lovely old coaching inn with lots of original features. Even cobbled floor in reception. All staff very friendly, polite and helpful.
Easy to park on the street.
Lovely room , nice extra touches like a radio playing classic fm in the room . Biggest bath we’ve ever seen , large enough for a whole family!!! Good choice of tea and coffee.
Had a lovely evening meal, in the cosy restaurant.
Breakfast was equally as good. Huge choice !!
Would love to stay again
Only two little niggles.
The dinner menu left in the room for us to salivate over wasn’t the same as that in the restaurant as it was Sunday evening .
We found our pillows quite uncomfortable and hard.

Hotel has maintained it's tradition and charm. Bar is great and breakfast (included w/room) had lots of options for all appetites (vegan included). Morning staff for bfast service were great!
Decor in the rooms was lush and great amenities (coffee/tea service, shower gels & shampoos/conditioner). Loved the radio/music.
Bonus....everyone has their dogs. Everyone is welcome.
Keep in mind this is a very old hotel (1700s), so expect narrow hallways, smaller rooms in general, drafty in common spaces and you'll hear your guests inside and out.

The staff were helpful and friendly, and the food was beyond our expectations—so flavorful and beautifully prepared!! We went there for a family holiday with our puppy, and the room was extremely cozy and warm, with a tranquil atmosphere. The location was perfect; even without a car, we were able to get around with ease. Thank you so much for giving us such an amazing memory!
The stairs were a bit old, but I think that’s exactly what a vintage house is supposed to be like.

Found the room a little on the small size . Wall plugs near bed not easy to access

Very convenient to the rail station. The facilities were clean and comfortable. The staff were exceptional! There is a spacious guest lounge, and a lively pub located in the hotel. The breakfast was very good.
It is located on a busy roadway, which makes for a noisy staff, particularly if you are in a front-facing room, as we were. But the traffic dies down in the evening, and does not start up too early.

Beautiful historic hotel that served as a great base for exploring the Cotswolds. Excellent location with lots of great food options from the hotel restaurant itself, to tea rooms, and other pubs/restaurants within few minutes walking. (If you go for dinner at the hotel restaurant the cheesecake is a must try!) For those traveling without a car, the train station is quite close and a nearby bus stop also made it easy to access other villages such as Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water. The room itself was well decorated and comfortable. There were many pleasant places around the hotel for guests to relax in the lounges, the bar, or outdoor courtyard.
We were staying to celebrate our anniversary and the hotel went out of the way to add on special touches in the room and at dinner. It was a sweet surprise!
Only very minor things - we needed to reserve a specific time for breakfast and when it was clear we would need to change it, getting in touch with the front desk wasn't easy. There was no way to dial reception direct from the room, and when trying to call via the number on the website we didn't get any answer. Also within the room found the desk and bathroom shelves to be a bit dusty.

The property was beautiful but not what I expected from the picture I booked from.
I should have mentioned that I was disabled so the stairs we a little problem also from the picture I booked from I asked for a king size bed which I got but the room had a stand up shower and being disabled I cannot use a normal over the head shower so I was expecting a walk in shower for what I paid
