Booking.com takes booking as “no cancellation” only, and only when you have booked does the property tell you there is a 500 euro cash deposit paid once the property has been expected. I’ve never had this and it was basically put as pay it or don’t move in - therefore lose my prepayment of room. There is also a 50 euro exit cleaning cost. You Can try and clean yourself but if it doesn’t pass inspection you will have 100 euro taken out of your deposit for an “emergency clean”. Lastly - I paid nearly 1000 euros for the stay but was told the initially provided partially empty toilet roll would be the only roll provided as per standard chalet policy. TP rolls are about 40 cents in France and the host wants you to be messing around buying toilet roll on your holiday.
