Location, spacious rooms and amenities, cleanliness. Bar with darts, pool, table tennis, etc. Fairly well supplied souvenirs shop. Nice and helpful staff.

Managing buffet based breakfast and dinner is a constant challenge - and went quite well. I was not too impressed by the food itself, especially against the price, however some members of my family would beg to differ. The rooms are spacious and clean, but the lavatory is so low that is almost unusable. There is no or insufficient shelve / space, forcing to live off the suitcase (on the floor) = inconvenient and visually displeasing.

Unbeatable location for the Goshikinuma Nature Trail—the western trailhead (Yanagi-numa) is a 3-minute walk from the hotel, and the full 3.6 km path past the eight coloured ponds (Ao-numa, Ruri-numa, Bishamon-numa) is superb, one of the best walks of our trip. Do the whole thing, not just the turnaround at Benten-numa. The outdoor onsen overlooking Lake Hibara is excellent. Room was large, comfortable, with a lake view and a sitting area—a bit dated, but genuinely good.

The half-board buffet is the weak point: a huge impersonal canteen, tables far from the serving stations, and a breakfast with limited choice and average quality. Our advice: book the room only and eat elsewhere—there are two restaurants in the hotel itself. The location and the onsen are worth it; the meal package isn't.

Only shuttle services I liked from station to hotel and drop back to station

Basically nothing Food at least for vegetarian families like us is completely dissatisfied
