A stay in paradise

I could go on and on how about this place is just wonderful. The location is absolutly gorgeous with a private beach, a very well maintained park and the villas are incredible. The staff very super profesionnal and friendly offering us rides to Russell and giving us great tips about restaurants or activities in the Bay of Islands. We stayed in First Light and the villa is magnificent with 2 bathrooms and a huge master bedroom. For a magical experience we recommand the private chef it was incredible. I had great expectations of this place and I wasn't disappointed, quite the opposite ! Lauren and Ileen were just amazing and I can never thank them enough for their kindness.

Superb - one of the best places we have stayed

The breakfast supplies were great and replenished in full daily

The upstairs shower was so powerful (which was great) but did cause water to flow in to bathroom - a minor issue.

We enjoyed our stay, wish we had an extra day or two to enjoy all the amenities.

Great location, well-stocked with food, wine and board games, very cosy. Really appreciate the variety of foods and drink options pre-stocked. Terrific views of the bay. Some hiking trails nearby.

Drain in shower backed up, but staff promptly did maintenance. Water pressure was not equal throughout all showers. Definitely on the expensive side.

Luxury accommodation with stunning views

We booked through booking.com which allowed us to book for 1 night which the staff said was incorrect (usually 2 night minimum). The manner in which this was relayed over the phone to us was not very pleasant. Of course not everyone can afford 2 nights. They did honour our booking.com booking but got it changed on booking.com the very same day. We weren’t told about the access to the private beach on arrival. Some of the stated complimentary items were not actually there (kohu road ice cream and sorbet). This was not a major for us, but given the high standards and price was a little disappointing. We asked for gluten free option for our dad and there were a few options but given the main breakfast was mainly bacon and eggs, it would have been nice if there was gluten free bread. At time of check out, we weren’t asked how our stay was so we weren’t given an opportunity to directly feedback. We somehow did not feel like our stay was valued, perhaps because we only stayed one night due to the glitch? We’ve stayed in other luxury places, where the hospitality was impeccable.

Amazing trip, and already planning on going back with extended family.

An amazing location that offers peace and solitude. Would absolutely recommend if you are looking for a treat or celebration. The staff were authentic, friendly and nothing was a problem, so service was impeccable. The lodge generously upgraded us so we could make use of the lap pool and spa next door which made such a difference to our stay. Can't wait to return! Loved the private chef experience too!

Not much, maybe some help with the bags on arrival and departure? No concierge service as such for bags/luggage.

I loved the very generous gourmet items in fridge for breakfast, the size of the villa and its superb master mezzanine bedroom with glass shower. We had a beautiful vista looking across towards Waitangi but unfortunately we could not gain real advantage of this because it rained. It was very generous we got to use the neighbouring pool because the villa was empty.

there was nothing we didnt like- some design touches to amend but it really was very special.
