Sibsan Resort & Spa Maetaeng Chiang Mai

Everything was phantastic - this was the best hotel I ever visited!

I love the views and the staffs are very humble and professional.

First, the room has no mosquito nets so we couldn't open the door and sit outside peacefully. And there has no restaurant in near.

Massive swimming pools with pool access rooms. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Thai foods in the restaurant were excellent.

Because we have stayed here many times, we love going back, the hotel is lovely. It is a lovely area to be in and we love being in Mae Taeng, as we visit a local school through my volunteer foundation.

The hotel is suffering from the effects of COVID and a downturn in business, that much is evident, however, other hotels in the region have bounced back, so there is no reason why Sibsan can’t do the same! Also over the years the ‘guest demographic and culture’ have changed the style of service, no longer do the staff speak much English, which to be fair is the language of the Hospitality industry. The menu in the restaurant is now very poor compared to what it was before, and it is difficult to read the print. The staff are not very compatible with international guests, which is a shame, because this area has som much to offer and many guests will visit. Another major problem we encountered was the door look on our room, it should never have been showing as ‘guest ready’ as it was clearly defective and even the staff member could not overcome the problem, we were locked out of our room twice, (we only stayed one night!) having to walk back to reception (in the dark after dinner, as lights were obviously on a timer!) was not my idea of enjoyment at all. The cafe/bar down by the river, needs some serious training, first of all they don’t have barely any English, secondly a very limited menu of drinks, and it took forever for them to serve 2 glasses of white wine! When we mentioned this to the manager, he did apologise, but there was no offer of any real sympathy or empathy. If as a hotel you have to make things right, then do so. a small discount, a gift or a voucher for future visits, but not just ‘sorry’!
