About this house rental

A Sawyer’s House is owned by a local Texas sawmill operator and the house flaunts the fine woodworking craftsmanship of the owner. This 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath home is a standalone property on 7 acres and offers the privacy you desire. The home is situated in the deep shade of 60 year old pecan trees with a productive pecan orchard to the east of the home near the creek. To the west is a pasture frequently maintained by dormer sheep. The Sawyer’s House reflects the local agri-economy of this Central Texas country community that was born along the rail of the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroads.

The house is tastefully decorated and furnished with your comfort in mind. Slabs of local San Saba Pecan trees, salvaged after the draught of 2011, are spied in the coffee tables, end tables, dining table, shelves, vanity and benches in the home. Spacious open living and dining room with a full size kitchen, coffee bar and additional counter space in the pantry area. Bedroom one has a complete queen size bedroom set and a private bath with a 5’ vanity and shower. Bedroom two is shabby chic with a trundle bed and portable organ converted to a desk. Bedroom three is a grand room with vaulted ceiling clad in Texas cedar. The room includes two king size beds, two dressers and a seating area with plenty of room to spare for blow up mattresses. The powder bath off the front living area has a hand crafted pecan vanity and a miniture farmhouse sink. A recently fully renovated hall bath includes a black porcelain 4'X6' walk in shower and 8' double sink vanity. Full size washer and dryers are available in the home.

Spend your mornings drinking coffee on the shaded 24’X16’ east deck as the sun rays cascade between the pecan trees and your evenings enjoying your favorite beverages in the backyard as the sunsets over the pasture. There is ample space for parking. There are two TVs with satellite connection to watch your favorite football team after a morning of hunting or afternoon of antiquing and wine tasting. Wifi is available for your convenience.

Lometa TX is just over one hour north of Austin and a central location for many of the hunting leases in the area. Neighboring Texas communities within 15 miles include San Saba, Lampasas, and Bend Texas, the entrance to Colorado Bend State Park. Start your road trip to Texas Caves and Waterfalls here https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/texas/cave-waterfall-road-trip-tx/ There are 2 wineries near Lometa and several more within a 30 minute drive. There's a Dollar General, gas stations and local restaurants in little town of Lometa. The grocery store, HEB & Walmart, fast food and popular restaurants, bowling, putt putt, karaoke and shopping are just a 15 minute drive to Lampasas. San Saba offers great picnic areas at the Mill Pond, Risien or the San Saba Nature Parks.

We found the home very clean, very well equipped and with beautiful handmade pieces of furniture. Dennis was so quick to respond to any communication that we sent to him. We highly recommend this home and will stay again ourselves if in that location.

We loved feeding the sheep. Breakfast at Rancho Seco was also a treat. Dennis made check in easy and the house is fully equipped

The property owner, Dennis, was fantastic. Everything was handled in a thorough and professional and friendly manner. His handiwork with wood was evident throughout the house.

We wanted to get out of the city for some quiet time and the “sawyer house” was the ticket. The sunrises shining through the pecan orchard were beautiful. We enjoyed watching hundreds of doves on the property eating the pecans. They would all take flight when we walked outside. The house was very comfortable and tastefully decorated. Every room has a touch of the owner’s craftmanship. The powder room vanity was so cute. I want the recently remodeled main bathroom in my house. The selection of large black tile was bold, but the room is bright and the few wood items softens the look.

The house was decent. A few quirky things (like that the plates provided didn't fit in the dishwasher provided, so we had to hand wash them). We had a very disappointed 9yo when the owner admitted that the sheep (which were listed on the property as an amenity basically) were no longer there. We had been calling this property "the one with the sheep" for months and had mentioned when booking that this was a major draw for us. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of space. Awkwardly small shower in mstr bedroom. Overall, except for the sheep disappointment, it was ...fine.

Plenty of room to visit and play games and fix meals. Nice and relaxing and served our group well.
