The breakfasts were very good and served on hot plates. The hotel is less than ten minutes drive into Taunton city centre and there's a lively pub opposite. It's a good location to explore the area.
Nothing comes to mind.

It was very cute/old style but clean and new/fresh enough
No breakfast as paid for/or staff service
8.0 / 10.0
Friendly, plenty of character, scrupulously clean
Noisy old pipes disturbed one of us in the night.

Good breakfast
More a B&B than hotel. Reception unmanned
Totally uncooperative on refund or part refund on alleged 2nd room they say we booked. Claimed they were 100% occupied when they were clearly not. At dinner, breakfast we saw no other customers, car park empty so clearly not true
Despite Booking.com suggesting a refund, they Refused. Kept our money

We particularly liked the decor throughout the hotel. We very much enjoyed the breakfast and the choice that was available. The scrambled eggs were excellent. The attention to detail and the professionalism of Mrs. Clarke.
Nothing.

The breakfast was very good, and the shower much better than the average hotel shower. The location was quieter than was expected, and the heating more than adequate even for January. The location was very convenient for visiting relations in Taunton.
The mattress was avery soft, which is not so much to our liking though we understand that many people prefer it this way! The car park was a little difficult to get in and out of especially when there were more cars parked.

Plenty of choice at breakfast. Family friendly environment. Very comfortable. Would highly recommend. Very convenient for a funeral i attended the next morning. Unlikely that i will be visiting Taunton in the future as my relative has passed away. But if i did, i would absolutely book again.

This was an excellent hotel. I had a warm welcome, it was very relaxing after a long journey. My room was beautifully and tastefully furnished. I had a great night’s sleep on the most comfortable mattress ever. Breakfast was plentiful and discreetly served.

We had a fantastic stay at The Meryan. It was very comfortable, great shower and very clean. Plentiful tea and coffee in the room.
Had a party locally and the location for us was perfect. Beautiful fresh breakfast in the morning. Sizeable car park.
Nothing.

Staff where friendly enough
Price of food from dining. The smell of wet dog. The decor. The bar was pointless.

Friendly, helpful and a great breakfast.
The double bed, it was to small for us, we have a kingsize at home.

I liked the old world feel of the place.lovely low ceilings, and an old world charm about the place.
Bedroom carpet was stained by the room door, also white walls needed a lick of paint.

Peaceful location, clean and comfortable accommodation. Plus a wood burning stove!
Nothing to note.

We chose this hotel for the location which worked well for the places we wanted to see.
Thought an old property would be nice as our own home is Tudor but this felt so dated. The bed was a very small double. The ensuite had been built into the corner of the room so was also very cramped. The towels were old and hard. The owner has dogs which I don’t mind but it was let out the back door as and when, so there was mess outside. I can see depending on reason of your stay it’s a handy location but this wasn’t the place for us.

Quirky ( in a good way) and full of character, and the room was clean and bed comfy. Nice quiet location but still close to town and plenty of on site parking.
All fine

We were met by our hostess, Cherry, on arrival, and her dog, Martini, what a wonderful lady. Cherry was happy to explain all the necessaries, and nothing seemed to be too much for her. The interior of the hotel was like stepping back into the old time Hotel world, it was truly stunning, especially the dining room that was set up like an old fashioned tearoom.
Our room was comfortable and spacious, we were allocated the oldest room in the hotel with a barrel ceiling.
We didn't dine in the evening, however, the breakfast was very nice, made all the more pleasant by the décor and surroundings.
I would definitely visit again.
Nothing.

Breakfast was nice.
The Lady of the property was downright rude to me and my friends. We were given drinks which we were led to believe were complementary but then charged for them at the end of the stay. My friend was contacted by “the lady” and asked why he left with the room key. My friend told her he hadn’t actually arrived or stayed at the property yet. I guessed she was rude to the actual person who allegedly left with the key and this was his reply to her rudeness to him? The lady was rude to me and my friends. My room was chilly and I asked for them to check the heating. The Lady told me “No one else has said anything”. Eventually they got the heating working in my room after two hours. I discovered they took more money via Booking.Com than the price of the stay. Dreadful. Dreadful dreadful. I’ve lodged an appeal with Booking.Com. Stay here at your peril.

Breakfast was delicious. Location was ideal as within walking distance of main town and local shops.
Water pressure in shower was poor, but bath was lovely.

Felt homely , warm and welcoming.
Lovely decor and the staff were wonderful .
The only small issue i found was that the shower didn't work well and couldn't adjust height .

Host very friendly and obliging
No home cooked evening meals, only takeaway menu, so if staying more than one or two nights you would have to go out to eat every night which is fine but sometimes you might want to eat in.

The breakfast was exactly what they said it would be. Good choice of cereals, fruit and yoghurts. Maybe some pastries would be a good addition in the futire

A fantastically characterful property in a village location with ample parking and easy access to Taunton and nearby towns. Friendly, caring hosts and magnificently furnished, spacious rooms, luxurious in fact. Modern bathroom with a great shower. I wish we could have stayed longer, and as for the breakfast, it was excellent, everything you could wish for, the best quality ingredients and all cooked and presented to perfection.
I could not think of a single thing that I did not like about Meryan House Hotel, everything was perfect.
