This was a 2nd stay and it is so nice to be close to town but with a real feeling of being in the country. The house was very clean with all the convivences of home. No problems getting a signal making it easy to check some emails. The beds and couches very comfortable. It is a great place to stay. The host responds very promptly to messages and questions. Thank you to the host for another amazing stay!

The small fenced in yard was great for our small dog. We were there to attend an air force basic training graduation at Lackland AFB. The commute was easy and having a Walmart close by came in handy. We really enjoyed the quiet, relaxing setting.

The host was excellent. The house was excellent. The property was excellent. The location was excellent. We have stayed in a lot of VRBO’S this was a very nice clean place to stay. We always read reviews on places that we are going to stay and we always look for the negative reviews. The negative reviews on this location are ridiculous. The reviews saying No Wi-Fi bad service etc is ridiculous. It’s a getaway in the country if you want all that stuff you should stay in a VRBO in town just my opinion. We had absolutely no issues with this home or anything else to do with this home. We loved it so that our kids if we’re back in the area, we will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend to all.

Property was perfect for our short trip to attend a wedding nearby. Host was very timely and responsive when we had a question, which was most appreciated. Gave cleanliness a 4 only because there were a lot of spider webs all over tables and fireplace and the showerheads could use a good scrub to remove all the calcium build up... other than that, clean.

This is really a beautiful place. The drought is tough on this area right now, but it didn't stop us from having a great time. It is nice to be outside town a bit to have more privacy. We find it easier to relax that way. The price is great and it is well suited for groups.We had a little trouble with the internet but had Direct TV so we could watch a movie in the evenings. The house was clean and included games, which we enjoy.Thanks for sharing your lovely home.

I was surprised upon arrival there was no WiFi and suggested to the owner that he should have made that clear in the property description. He was defensive and asked if I was questioning his integrity - then offered me a partial refund for promising to not write a review. Some integrity. If I could rate just the furniture it would be a 5/10. Old and uncomfortable. There was no outdoor furniture except a couple battered dining chairs and a two decorative benches. Nothing to lounge on or a table. The gate sucked especially at night. Could not locate a single smoke detector or carbon monoxide detector on the property. Nice house, quiet surroundings, but nowhere near a 10/10 get real.

Annual gathering of four high school friends! Enjoyed catching up with each other, working on crafts and quaint town of Castroville TX. Very comfortable stay, not sure would recommend for senior adults given the spiral staircase. A little disappointed with the condition of chairs in living room but not a game changer. Beds and bedding very comfortable. End result was a good experience.

Peaceful place in the country. Very clean and comfortable. If you need WiFi- this isn’t the place for you. There is a gate that you have to get out to open and close each time, an electric key pad and automatic gate would be nice, especially when it’s raining. We went to a local winery called Medina River Winery. Did the tasting with the owner, sunsets there were breathtaking. The local bakery and meat market are a must! Blu Lacey BBQ was out of this world! Great town for a day or two, San Antonio was just 30 minutes away and worth going into for the day. Overall the house was perfect. We walked the property and got to see all the beauty nature has to offer. Didn’t see any cows or donkeys but did have two cats they were very friendly come to visit us each evening. If we are ever in the area we will definitely come back to stay here. The host John was available if needed.

We absolutely had a blast feeding the black angus cows and Baby Girl, the donkey. We bought cattle treats from Tractor Supply locally and cold long stem carrots from the local Walmart. Our family also raised cows, so we were familiar with them and hand fed a few. The cows came every morning around 9 am and by day four, they were gathered “mooing”for us to come outside. (smart cows). The big bull would hang back and observed. Castroville is a small town gem. We recommend Blu Lacy Smokehouse for the best bbq and sides and don’t forget your bucket of beers from the bar. The local Mexican restaurant was fantastic too, El Portal de Jalisco. The Red Rooster which is a drive thru party store where you can also get frozen daiquiris and margaritas (heavy on the liquor-beware😳) There is a Dairy Queen, McDonald’s and a Pizza place, also a Dollar Tree plus everything you would want in San Antonio. We visited in April, low 70’s, and enjoyed The Fiesta in San Antonio. We visited The Alamo twice and recommend the city parking for $10, closer lots were $25-30 for parking. So much to see and do, but the quietness of the Ranch was the downtime that we needed at the end of a busy day. The narrated boat ride in downtown San Antonio was a lot of fun and neat to see the city from a different viewpoint. The gate lock can be difficult to see at night. I would recommend having a bright light available. We visited family and enjoyed our stay, Travelers from Michigan

I took my daughter and her two friends to San Antonio for a senior year shopping trip. I also wanted them to see the Hill Country. This house was perfect. So fun! All the amenities and things we needed to cook were there for our use. The owner was very helpful and fantastic to deal with. We really enjoyed our trip and this house! We will be back!
