Hotel La Cupula is a lovely hotel. It's set near the top of a hill with a pretty view of the lake. The owner of the hotel is a kind lady; she and her staff are friendly and willing to help as best they can. Though persistent problems with WiFi frustrated everyone, the owner included.
A simple continental breakfast of coffee/tea, juice, eggs, bread, and fruit is included.
However, I cannot say that it is the best value for money. I paid over *** per night for my first night's stay in a lake-view room, a little more than *** for my second night's stay in the garden room.
I switched hotels for my final two nights in Copacabana. I moved to the hotel literally next door. I had a private room, queen-sized bed, private bath, hot shower, and breakfast included (minus the juice and fruit cup). The staff was equally friendly and kind (I had a great chat with the receptionist, who gave me a full itinerary of places to visit throughout Bolivia).
From the fifth floor, my balcony terrace offered an even better view of the lake.
And the price for this slice of heaven? *** per night!
La Cupula is lovely, and the staff is friendly, but it raises the question: what justifies the price difference of up to 10 times? (the fruit cup? 🤭)
In a global market, certainly the price could be a bargain, but it is distorted in the local market.
For my part, I feel taken advantage of. Others may feel differently. Make your own decision, but be informed.
