I loved it. Especially all the girls at the reception, the dive instructor made the stay special.

Very clean and comfortable, excellent facilities. Beds were wonderful, lovely linens! Pool was Fab and everything was very well kept and cared for. The staff were above and beyond lovely, so kind and helpful.

Highly recommend! Social yet quiet vibe and easy to make friends.

Great hostel with excellent social yet chill vibe. PADI centre with good diving instructors (and very nice dive boat). It was easy to meet other travelers thanks to great services/activities such as free beach shuttle and sunset shuttle. Social vibe yet calm. Clean facilities and very kind and helpful staff. Plenty of good restaurants in the area and a cozy pool area if one wants to avoid the crowds at the beaches during high season.

The one thing I missed in the larger dorms were private curtains and better/more discrete lighting by the beds. Especially in a 9 bed dorm these additions would help facilitate undisturbed sleep.

great, chill location with amazing free benefits (breakfast and beach & bar shuttles)

clean room, strong air conditioner, privacy in the 6-person dorms, a nice balcony to smoke and dry clothes. buffet breakfast was varied and filling. the highlight was definitely the free shuttle to various beaches. i was there for 6 days and everyday we went to a new beach for 2/3 hours, followed by another shuttle to enjoy a sunset at the various tree top bars on the island. perfect if you don't want to deal with having a moped by yourself.

We got a free upgrade to an even bigger room :) Nice welcome at the reception and good breakfast.

It is a bit further from the village then we expected but still easy to walk. Best to rent a motorcycle anyway to explore the rest of Island

Best hostel

I wish I could give this hostel 1000 stars. If you visit Koh Tao, STAY HERE. Every detail of this hostel has been thought out. The big things like the daily free shuttles and breakfast to the smaller things like the yoga mats in the rooms to the to the sea sickness tablets when you depart. The best part? The diving. Aaron was an exceptional instructor and made me feel so at ease, and proud of my accomplishment. The room was so clean and super comfortable. The vibe of the hostel is social, but not party-like. The WiFi is fantastic, so great for remote work. The staff are so welcoming, and can’t do enough for you. I have stayed in MANY hostels in Asia, this is my favourite one by miles. I cannot fault it at all. A massive thank you to JJ, Aaron, Jane, Picky, Ivy Sara and everyone at the Dearly. What a team you are. SEE YOU SOON!

Worst hotel experience

Nothing. I didn't like anything about this hotel, the staff are very hard to talk to and strict about silly rules. Worst hotel experience.

I didn't like that single rooms have to be on the top floor and no elevator. I didn't like the staff because they were not flexible when I wanted to stay in the same single room. I didn't like that the hotel takes money for the towels which they don't even change everyday! I didn't like the fact that the staff didn't try to compensate for the bad experience which clearly they saw I had since I arrived and heard their rules. The hotel is overrated and maybe for backpackers who don't have luggage. Also I tried the food in the hotel and got the wrong order and it was tasteless, i tried the correct order and also tasteless. Never coming back to this hotel again.

Great Hostel with Top-Notch Diving

Amazing stay! The hostel is super clean, with comfortable rooms and beds. The staff are professional, friendly, and welcoming, and the diving center is top-notch. A perfect place to relax, meet people, and enjoy Koh Tao. Highly recommended! :)

Perfect getaway

The Dearly is a special hostel. It’s serene and full of good people! The dorms are top quality with excellent A/C. The beds are extremely comfortable. The hostel runs a free shuttle to different beaches every day and awesome sunset bars! Perfect if you don’t ride a motorbike like me. They even put on a movie night. It’s social but definitely not a party hostel. I didn’t dive and still found a lot to do (those who dived had an amazing time). The hostel recommended a snorkel tour through Oxygen which was extraordinary! The pool is at the back of the hostel and was kept extremely clean. There are cheap and cheerful Thai restaurants nearby and a 7/11 down the road. I would definitely stay here again.

The roosters are loud and annoying in the morning but I was so tired I fell asleep again straight away. Bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper. The hostel should be kinder to the black and white cat, Pickles, who visits the front common area. He is the sweetest cat on earth and just wants love and some water occasionally. It’s not expensive to get a cat vaccinated in Thailand and the actual hostel cat Amanda isn’t friendly and doesn’t go to that part of the hostel anyway. #justiceforpickles

Nice hostel with good organised free trips

Our private room was comfy and clean. The hostel organises free trips to different beaches twice a day and there is a couple of gorgeous beaches just down the road so good options for places to go. You can book snorkelling and scuba diving at reception

The pool area isn’t exactly nice like the pictures, it’s a bit run down with broken sun-beds and dirty chairs so we didn’t spend any time there but we hardly spent any time in the hostel as we were always on different day trips. Pool table broken but more or less does the job.

love the vibe

Everything !! the staff is great, breakfast they offer shuttle wich is great if you dont ride a bike , and even is closed to some nice beaches by walking you can qalk to the pier 25 min, the pool is great , facillities i was about to stay only 3 nights i stayed one week thanks to the staff for the experience, higly recommended if you want to stay in a more chill area🙏🏻🖤

Amazing staff, ALL of the staff are the loveliest, helpful, caring people. I've felt very looked after especially as a solo traveller, have been here for 4 weeks in total and will 100% come back to the Dearly. The pool is lovely, room is clean. Food is delicious and great priced, coffee is also very nice.

Stunning

Really lovely staff, room was really spacious, bright and very peaceful vibe around the hostel. The daily shuttle trips they organise to beaches are great - would highly recommend renting a snorkel at reception and going to Ao Leuk if you get the chance! Will definitely come back here

One of the best hostels in whole of SEA

Loved the rooms, they were clean and bright and also had a mirror and balcony. The pool was good and clean and the staff were lovely. Surprisingly not having my own bathroom didn’t bother me as they bathrooms provided were so clean and close and I never had to wait for a shower etc

The BEST place to stay on Koh Tao!

We love the Dearly! We, a momma and two teens, have been back twice to the deluxe room. The room has incredible walls of windows with mountain views and a private balcony. The staff are helpful and friendly, common areas are chilld and clean, and the Dearly has everything you need. Drink fridge, great food and the right prices, fab breakfast, two shuttles daily for private beaches and different sunset locations. Super PADI center, instructors and brand new dive boat. We love it so much we have been back twice!

Beware of the roosters

It was clean an spacious

There are A LOT of chickens and roosters that live in the area around the building. The roosters make a lot of noise they start around 5 am and keep going non stop till 7 and it feels like they are in your room (soundwise). I didn’t like it but maybe there are people who do. Anyway we ended up going to another place on the same street without chickens.

I would say is a luxury hostel with nice people

the facilities, the location and the stuf. because we were staying for 4 nights they upgraded us to a suite, so from the very beginning the experience was superb! The views from the room were amazing. it felt like we were in the middle of the jungle (but is not true). The pool was nice because is super deep so you can practice skills for diving.

very neat and spacious hostel

very neat, clean and spacious. we were lucky to get upgraded to a very large room! :) also er first thought that the location was not the best, but it turned out to be fine. especially when you rent a scooter! (please don’t rent it at Van Travel, who are close to the hostel, they are scammers).

there was nothing that we didn’t like, but maybe three points to mention: the breakfast was very basic. we got an additional part of the breakfast due to our upgrade,so we could order eggs or yoghurt and musli. the standard breakfast just had white toast, jam, pancakes, fruits and a thai dish. we picked the hostel at the end of our holiday because we thought socializing would be nice at the end of our trip (as we travelled together). unfortunately the hostel did not feel as social because nobody said hi if you crossed paths. they just looked at their phones. but i can imagine that its not always the case. and we also did not put any extra effort to be social :) third, we had the large private room, but the bathroom is actually inside the bedroom. also the toilet door is not a full length door, so if you stay together then you really have to know each other if you know what i mean ;)

perfect

i came back to the dearly for the 3rd time, 6 years after the last time. I was not disappointed, it was still exceptional. yes the free breakfast is a bit basic but for the price, it is worth it. and you can order on top additional dish or drink. they offer quite a few free / low cost services for guests.

i stayed in the back building and it is quite a hike. but I am out of shape. maybe specify when booking?

great stay.

This was the best hostel I had in Thailand. It was very clean and quiet. The breakfast was really good and if you want to the hostel had activities everyday. I would recommend this hostel if you want some rest and some time to relax.

If you want to party or going out, you won’t like this hostel because it’s a bit further away.

Exceptional

Stayed in over 60 hostels last year and this one is definitely one of the best I've ever stayed in. Lovely rooms and easy to meet people. They organize free trips to different beaches around the island every day for people that do no drive scooter, so that was really great as well. There was also a barbecue while I was there which was also very nice.

Really nice hostel and diving course.

The private room was really nice, especially for the price, and the pool area was very pleasant. We did a diving course with the hostel's school, which was convenient and professional.

The lack of indoor dining area meant that we contended with a lot of bugs at mealtimes in the alfresco dining space. There was quite a lot of smoke from neighbouring properties lighting fires in the evenings. This probably isn't unique to this area, but is worth considering if you are sensitive to air quality etc.
