Komatsu-kan Kofu-tei

I was blown away by the kindness and attentiveness of the staff. Everyone was so lovely to deal with! The accommodation was gorgeous, and it was so nice to wake up to that beautiful view in the morning. The weather was a bit rainy, but all the more reason to enjoy the incredible room and facilities. The accommodation was able to organise a vegan breakfast and dinner option for me with a little bit of notice. I have to say I was delighted by how delicious and well-balanced the meals were! The chef did an amazing job, and the staff really made sure everything was to my satisfaction. Thank you again for a wonderful stay! My partner and I would love to come back again.

Very very minor, but we felt that the lighting in the private bathroom could be a little bit brighter. Really nice rooms otherwise! Highly recommend the tatami room option; it was very comfortable.

The location is absolutely amazing. The views are amazing. The breakfast is plentiful. The spa is lovely (we went to a private bath). The staff treats you like royalty. The complimentary welcome drinks make it feel very luxurious.

This was my second time staying here, because I loved it SO much the first time I came, I had to come back with my partner. However, while booking the same room type ,"standard", the one we got the second time was considerably smaller than the first one and had less comfortable chairs in it. It also was right above the common viewing deck and foot soak area, which made it less private since people could look into our room from there. I thought the room was so much lower value compared to the first time that I went to check with the staff if a mistake had been made but they assured me it was not a mistake. I considered asking if we could be moved, but didn´t because I didn´t want my partners experience to be influenced by my disappointment. The room was not bad, but comparatively I think they should have put this one up as one of the more "budget" rooms. Even the budget room next door looked nicer than ours, when we got a peek inside while they were cleaning it.

Lovely ryokan with exceptionally beautiful view from the big windows in the rooms! Beautiful Onsen as well. Breakfast is full of interesting (and tasty) things - especially in our case as foreigners experiencing Japanese food. It's good to reserve plenty of time for it. The facilities are very nice, both at the restaurant and at the lounge. The location is very good for accessing the sights of Matsushima, and for just enjoying the view from the hotel itself. Staff is helpful and friendly, and they use an AI interpreter that helps communicating more complex questions. We were left with a very warm impression of the place and the people running it.
