A comfortable, convenient stay that met my needs and made my trip easy.

The property was clean, comfortable and exactly as described. The bed was really comfy, the shower had good pressure and it was nice and very quiet at night. Check-in was straightforward and the location made it easy to get to shops and local attractions. Looking over the golf course from the room to East Beach was beautiful.

A fabulous base for our holiday.

Cockle Shell was cosy, well appointed and clean. Situated in a great spot just across the road from Pilot Station and a short walk to the Penguin Tours. Would highly recommend this property and would definitely book again.

Wonderful stay . I will be back

I had such a lovely stay at this little bungalow over the weekend. The space was spotless, beautifully kept, and so peaceful — exactly what I needed while working. It felt cosy and welcoming from the moment I arrived. The host was incredibly kind and helpful, making everything so easy and comfortable. You can really tell they care about their guests. I’d happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, clean, and relaxing place to unwind.

It would be very hard to find a more relaxing place to stay.

I stayed at Low Head beachside bungalow "Cockle Shell" for three nights with my wife, daughter and grandson, all of us thought that the bungalow was absolutely lovely. Peter, the owner of Cockle Shell has really done everything to ensure one's stay is comfortable, relaxing and the cottage provides everything for one's stay. The location is beautiful at Low Head, from the accommodation you can see across a golf course where waves are rolling in to East Beach, in the other direction it's just a very short walk across the road to Pilot Bay on the Tamar River, where the fishing is great and the views are beautiful. A short drive away is Georgetown, which has a Woolworth's and IGA supermarket, as well as a number of other shops, cafe's and pubs. As mentioned above, Peter was a joy to deal with, he advised us of good places to eat, if we wanted to eat out and some different places we could visit, he could not have been more helpful or nicer. I have no hesitation in recommending Low Head beachside bungalow "Cockle Shell" to anyone wanting a relaxing stay at a very reasonable price.

The only thing we didn't like was having to leave such a beautiful place.

I stayed for 2 nights the lovely couple that own the Cockle shell were very welcoming, gave me great ideas of areas to visit in my free time and the location makes it a great base to adventure out.

A fabulous property, astutely managed; a great place to stay in Low Head.

Excellent communication from owners, Peter and Zing; prior to and during our stay. Peter and Zing went out of their way to ensure our stay was enjoyable, nothing was too much trouble. Cockle Shell bungalow is extremely well appointed and well provisioned; a quiet, calm and secure base from which to explore that part of Tasmania.

A fantastic place to see all Low Head has to offer!

The owners were very welcoming and gave helpful local information. The location was fantastic - you can walk to the Pilot Station with it's museum and coffee shop, the light house and also the penguin tours. The bungalow was well equipped and very comfortable, and very private even though located in the back yard of the owners' house. Would go back again!

Cosy Cottage

Cosy and very clean. We were after a quiet location on the Tamar River and this was perfect. Walking distance to the Penguin Tour and had a very enjoyable drink at the local golf club just out the back gate

Loved our stay here with all the property and Low Head had to offer.

Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful in suggesting some great stops on the way from Launceston. Accomodation was comfortable with every cooking utensil we could want. We were given delicious cherry tomatoes picked fresh from the garden. It was very quiet and peaceful.

The only thing I could say was that the bathroom was a little tight but okay for us.

Come and warm the cockles of your heart at Cockle Shell ♡

Cockle Shell is an absolutely wonderful place to stay. It was well stocked with goodies that you need for everyday and things you don't really think about. Everything is supplied and was so clean, with plenty of tourist type information provided. The shower is superb! So quiet and peaceful inside with double glazing...and a lovely spot to sit under the verandah (and to have a bbq in the weber) and listen to the waves from the nearby East Beach, which is a very short stroll across the community run golf course. We had breakfast sitting at the comfy outdoor setting most days. Peter and Zing are fabulous hosts and there is nothing they don't know about the area and Launceston. They are so friendly, obliging and accommodating. Great base for some lovely walks. Very sad to say goodbye, but will definitely return.

Exceptional

Perfect location for access to Low Head and surrounding areas. Across from the beach, pilot station, and a local cafe with great coffee and amazing fresh fish and chips. Walking distance to the lighthouse and penguin colony. Close to drive to local attractions like seahorse world and Platypus House, and Bridport for a large playground for kids, Saturday market and food van park. 6 minute drive to George George Town, which also has a great playground. The accommodation was great for kids. House was lovely and warm, and had a fully stocked kitchen and great wifi. The hosts are lovely and helpful with local tips on places to go and had beach toys available for the kids.

Lovely, coastal self-contained B&B.

This property has the perfect location…down the road from the lighthouse and across a very quiet golf course to a beautiful beach. Everything was spotlessly clean and fresh, the kitchen was very well-stocked with plenty of cutlery, crockery and utensils, the bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. There was also an under-cover area with a Weber BBQ and seating. We had a very relaxing stay here and would recommend Cockle Shell to anyone visiting this part of Tassie.

Although we knew the address of the B&B, it is located at the back of the property and therefore is invisible from the road. A ‘Cockle Shell’ (or even ‘B&B’) sign near the letterbox would have been so helpful.

Very good

Location is great - easy walk across golf course to East beach via back gate or up the road to the lighthouse. Unit is quite small but clean and modern and had what we needed for 2 people. More people might be a bit of a squeeze. Outside setting is nice - good views over back fence.

When we arrived it wasn't 100% clear where we could park as you have to drive across the owners backyard lawn, however we worked it out. Front gate is a bit tight - had to be careful entering and exiting. Property did require prepayment in full unlike our other stays on our trip.

A quiet spot in Low Head.

A very neat, clean, tidy bungalow, adjacent to the golf links which was peaceful to look at and very quiet. Short walk across the links to the beach which was lovely. Close to the Pilot Station, Museum, and Lighthouse-all of which we visited.

Perhaps laundry facilities within the bungalow would have been useful.

Modern bungalow in a very quiet location.

Great little bungalow, separate from the main house, with covered outdoor area. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Lots of extras: condiments, utensils etc. Very quiet location. You can walk to East beach via the gate in the back fence - just a short walk across the golf course. The Low Head pilot station is directly across the road and it's a 1klm walk to the lighthouse. Great walking/running paths beside the road.

I think it would be tight if more than 2 people were staying here. You can't have the door open fully as it obscures the TV. Having said that, we would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely everything! Cockle Shell was an amazing and well suited lil home for our needs. It was immaculate and cosy. Peter's help and foreknowledge of where to go and what we could do was a blessing as it helped us explore some of the sites surrounding the property. Definitely well worth the money and would stay again in a heartbeat.

Good spot as a base for Tamar Valley

This bungalow had all we needed for two couples. having the outdoor area meant plenty of space for 4 adults. We made use of the BBQ for a great outdoors meal. The cottage had plenty of equipment and utensils to cover our needs.

it’s a far way to shops etc do you must plan ahead. The rooms are a little stuffy in warm nights. Fans would help.
