The 500-year-old property is well-maintained and very clean. Yes, I hit my head on the low doorways a few times, but quickly adapted. The terrace on the flat roof is very private and catches the sun all day, and is accessed via a ladder from the kitchen. Kitchen is well equipped, with fridge, washing machine, toaster, microwave. Cooking is by gas. Finding the property wasn't easy, as the door is marked "Lynch", not "Casa Barbara". The attached photos show the steps down from the parking area and the entrance area. Parking is not adjacent to the property. Spaces in the public areas were quickly snapped up, particularly at the weekends. There are plenty of hiking options from the door but every path is steep and challenging, so it's not a great area for "strolling". I attempted to do some running but found even the roads too grueling. Mountain biking is good, higher up the mountains, particularly if you use the van+trailer services to gain the height.
Ferreiola has fewer facilities than the other six villages of La Taha. Mecina is walkable (about 1km) for a cafe/restaurant but opening days are limited. Supermarkets in Pitres, Portugos or Busquistar are a stiff 200m vertical climb and a 30-60 min walk or a lengthy car journey.

Full of character. Helpful host. Household items provided. Comfortable bed.
At the time of our stay there was an extreme heatwave and with no airconditioning and only a fan, it was unbearable for us so we had to shorten our stay. She was a very understanding host.
