Villa Dolce Vita

We were met at one of the local tavernas by a member of the host team, Joanna, she was very pleasant and guided us from the tavern to the villa, which was helpful as some of the roads are quite narrow. She subsequently showed us around the villa and shared the pre-prepared basket of food from Maria (delicious!) before departing. The villa is located in a very peaceful area, the last on a narrow, rural road (the road does continue but it's inaccessible by car). The layout of the villa suited us well as a family of 4 (two older teenage children), it meant everyone could have their own bathroom and bedroom with the added bonus of having two balconies on the first floor. The village of Prines is quaint and worth a wander around, I highly recommend the local tavernas - we managed to visit two out of the three (Olive Garden and Gianniko's) both were exceptional, very friendly owners who happily suggest food ideas, local attractions and are accommodating to families. As with a lot of places in Crete it's recommended to hire a car to get the most of your time there, but with narrow roads I'd recommend choosing the smallest car you can get away with. Back to the villa, it was beautiful and clean, plenty of indoor and outdoor space to relax and spread out. The table tennis got well used as did the pool. Any queries we had were answered exceptionally quickly via WhatsApp with good communication before our arrival on what to expect and suggested resources for our time in Crete.

A small opportunity for improvement - it would be useful to have a frequently asked questions or similar guide available for guests to look at when they first arrive at the villa. We had some basic questions like what the wifi code is and waste collections etc, some of which could have been documented to save having to reach out with questions.

Thanasis met us in the village a few minutes away and we followed him to the villa, where he let us in and showed us around. He was very welcoming and answered all our questions, he showed us where everything was and said if we needed anything, to just message him. The villa has a lovely pool area that is an absolute sun trap and totally private. The views from the balconies are great. The BBQ was awesome. We loved the villa, which is only a 5 minute walk away from The Olive, which is a traditional Cretan village taverna.

There was nothing we didn't like, the villa is very large, and has everything you need for a great stay.

De locatie was heel mooi, vlak bij het dorpje Prines. Geweldig buitenzwembad en meer dan genoeg ruimte van binnen om elkaar niet in de weg te lopen, bijvoorbeeld als de één moet werken.

Hooguit de ligging, maar dit was van tevoren bekend, is dus niet iets wat tegenviel.
