The hosts, Irene and Murray, are lovely. They really go out of their way to make their guests feel comfortable. Weaver Cottages are in a quiet suburb of Harare. We stayed in the charming “book room,” where the walls are lined with built-in brick bookcases and a fascinating library. It has a small self-catering kitchen and a breakfast is provided for self-service in the room. Note that the only shower is outside in a small courtyard, which adds to the cottage’s character. During one of Harare’s frequent power outages, they had a back‑up generator available to pump water for showers and an inverter to keep the essentials going. Supermarkets and restaurants are about 10 minutes away. We had a car, which is only recommended if you're comfortable driving in chaotic traffic. It takes a little while to get used to the local road rules. There is an app called inDrive (similar to Uber) and Irene and Murray can also recommend other services.

The tranquility of the place, the way it blends into nature, the simplicity of the rooms and yet so ambient. The thoughtful design of the rooms and the open bathroom a masterclass. The book collection was amazing, instead of being stuck on my laptop, l enjoyed the reading, quite refreshing. The humility of the owners and friendliness of the staff is hard to ignore. I would definitely come back.
