Villa Kerkyroula

We’ve just returned from a truly wonderful stay at Villa Kerkyroula, where we enjoyed a holiday filled with beauty, relaxation, and warm hospitality. The journey from Corfu Airport to the villa takes approximately 45 minutes by taxi. A pre-booked, spacious people carrier cost us around £65 each way—well worth it for the comfort and ease. The villa itself is generously sized and very comfortable, with two double bedrooms and one twin, each equipped with en suite bathrooms and air conditioning—a real blessing on those hot summer nights. While the lower level of the house remains pleasantly cool, the upper floor (which includes the lounge, kitchen, and one of the double bedrooms) can get quite warm during the day, though we found ourselves spending most of our time out. One of Villa Kerkyroula’s finest features is its stunning view across the bay to Albania, with the beach and the delightful Taverna Yiannis just a short stroll—about 40 steps—below. Just 50 yards along the beach, you’ll find speedboat rentals available for around £100 per day (10am to 6pm), with fuel costing an additional £30–£50. The jetty outside Taverna Yiannis also serves as a pick-up point for water taxis (George’s, Dinos, or Nikos) offering scenic rides to Corfu Town or to nearby coves with charming restaurants. Although we didn’t have a car, which made supermarket trips a little tricky, we were touched by the kindness of a local who offered us a lift one day. On another, we stopped by one of the (2) excellent supermarkets at Kalami Beach while out on a boat excursion. Drinking water and fresh bread were always available at the nearby taverna, which was very convenient. For those who enjoy walking, there’s a beautiful coastal path leading to Kalami—do bring sturdy shoes. Just before reaching Gialiskari Beach, you’ll discover some fantastic rocks perfect for swimming and diving. Gialiskari also has a great little beach bar and café, ideal for a refreshing break.

Some villas we have visited provide a small welcome pack with a few basics such as milk, water, bread, fruit. Just a thought, given the difficulty of getting to a supermarket if you don’t have a car?

The location and view from the balcony of this property is unbeatable. Beautiful place with a great pool and a short walk down to the beach and Yanni's taverna which is a great restaurant with some of the nicest people in Greece running it.

There was only air con in the bedrooms, and the place was hot. The beds are small and old (and short) and the linen was very old and threadbare. There was no laundry detergent or washing detergent left. The contact info was out of date OR the contact person didn't answer their phone during the stay.
