The villa itself is beautiful and exactly what we needed. With three bedrooms, it would comfortably sleep 6 people. Two bedrooms had large kingsize beds and the other had two single beds. All rooms had plenty of wardrobe space, dressing tables with vanity seats, bedside tables, lamps and a chair. The windows had blinds and insect nets which were great and let in additional light throughout the day. The area is on a main road and you do hear vehicles but it does not get busy at all and the area is so quite which is perfect for relaxation and tranquility. The area has quiet hours from 3pm - 5.30pm which is common for Europe. The lounge had a double seater sofa and 1 arm chair which would accommodate 3 large people comfortably. The lounge is very dark however we didn't use the lounge at all but it does have a TV showing some Greek channels. The kitchen had plenty of storage space and all the utensils, cooking equipment and crockery that we needed was available. There is a dining table which sat 6 people. Two small bathrooms, both with showering facilities and one with a small bath. Both with a toilet, sink and one had a washing machine. We had been to Crete before and was aware you could not flush toilet paper so opted to pack nappy sacks and a roll of bin liners which we put in each bathroom. The outdoor space was the main feature of the property and was beautiful. The pool was clean and well maintained - 1m deep one end and 1.2m the other so a little deep if you are travelling with little ones, as a 5ft 8 woman, the 1m end came up to my chest when flat footed. The pool is not heated and therefore very cold but after a hot day in the Greek sun, it is very welcomed. There were 6 loungers which were a little dated and some were a bit wobbly and could do with replacing but it was fine for us. There were also two patio tables with plenty of chairs for outdoor dining. There is a very reasonably priced tavern within a 5 minute walk.
Although we were aware the villa was to some extent remote, we didn't realise exactly how remote it actually is. You do have to drive or get taxis everywhere and they are not cheap. When you are spending €40 to go 10 minutes up the road and back to get to the nearest town or €70 return to go to the beach for the day, it does start to sting the wallet. Uber does not operate in Crete and therefore this was not an option. We opted to use Chania Taxi's as they seemed to be the most reliable however had to be booked in advance via WhatsApp. You could hire a car but there is no driveway and therefore you will be forced to rely on street parking outside the villa. Now if you have ever rented a car before, you will know how costly it can become if there is even so much as pin prick scratch on the car upon return and with the speed and carelessness some of the locals have when going up and down the road, I would be fretting constantly about the car getting damaged. This is the only thing that let's the villa down is how remote it is. We said multiple times, if the villa could be picked up and centered more in the heart of Chania, it would be perfect but we felt very limited in what we could do in the area due to the price of travelling everywhere. To go from the villa into the heart of Chania for some nightlife would have been €160 return. That's before you have thought about food and drinks etc. There is a little shop just up the road from the villa where you can get all your basic essentials. It is a little expensive but sells most things you could want. If you live in the UK, it resembles a corner shop or local Londis/Spar. As an insight, local jam is €3.10, shampoo/shower gel is €5.50, nescafe coffee is €6.40 and Ariel washing pods are a whopping €14.90. On the plus side, bread is €2.50 and 6 x 2ltr bottles of water are only €1.50.

Absolutely everything. We just discussed with the family on the way back home that we probably couldn't have wished any better. Everything suited our needs. Everyone had their own bedroom as i was with my mom and my daughter and girls had their own bathroom. AC worked the cleaning lady was a joy and so was everyone in the village. Such a heartwarming welcome. The pool was nice clean and refreshing after a nice breakfast in the garden and a nice sunbath. Perfect place to stay with the family. The village also has a nice little shop and a cafe and a tavern so if you're lazy the food and refreshments are less than 200m away. You better have a rental car to get to the village and to visit little villages below at the seaside but when you're back at the villa you feel like bsck home. It's that nice and a place we are definitely coming back to

Pool area was great. Welcome pack was unexpected but generous. Had we known we would not have bought certain groceries.
Despite cold weather forecasts there was no heating. Some light bulbs didn’t work. The traditional living room furniture did lack comfort.
