Hostal Vista Alegre

We were going to set off too early for breakfast but the receptionist kindly allowed us to take away breakfast ths night before. The receptionist also gave us helpful directions to a restaurant. The location was very close to the bus stop from Bilbao. The room was very comfortable with a handy fridge.

A kettle in the room would have been lovely.

This hotel is basic, but very clean, with comfortable beds. The room had a kettle and a fridge, and was well-heated in a chilly December. There was no problem with bringing our dog (€5 surcharge) and the staff were very welcoming. Breakfast is included, it's fairly basic, but adequate. Free secure parking is provided, it's 10 minutes walk to the sea, a little more to the centre, and it's only 20 minutes drive to the Bilbao ferry port. What not to like!

I would like to complement Staff Member Ana. I kept coming back with more questions, and she was always nice and helpful. I asked for the use of a fan and she provided one, which was extremely helpful.

There is a problem with the layout/floorplan in that some of the rooms face a patio area which some guests use to enter the building or to just ‘hang out’ and make noise. Therefore, if your window is open this noise will interrupt your sleep. And since there is no AC, during summer it’s essential to have your window open, so this is a big defect.
