The room itself and the grounds are absolutely stunning. Like, beautiful. Rustic and charming, beautifully done. But there was a lot about our stay that we felt could be hugely improved upon. Firstly, there was absolutely no coffee or tea in the room, we arrived at 4pm on a Sunday and there was no way to get a drink, all the shops nearby are shut so you think the hotel would offer some basic drinks. Since they are apartments it would have been so nice for them to include some basics in the room like salt and pepper, a small amount of olive oil for cooking etc, even a welcome bottle of cheap wine since we’re in Tuscany but absolutely nothing. They give you a guide when you arrive about how much they love kids and how they encourage kids not to bring iPads which I loved, so I was hoping there’d be some basic toys in the room or stuff like that, but nothing. The playground needs a renovation it’s quite unsafe.
The staff were pleasant but very hands off, and we’ve been all over Italy now and had become accustomed to friendly hotel/accommodation owners that go out of their way to help you enjoy your stay but we felt a lot to be desired regarding this too. Again, beautiful grounds and rooms but they need to spend a tiny bit on making peoples first impressions more impressive with some basics available on arrival.
