Viveka Inn Guest and Yala Safari

Hosts were very friendly. Served us delicious tea on arrival and in the morning. Got shown around the garden, all the wildlife was amazing. It felt like it was a real local experience.

This was our favourite stay in all of our travels! It was absolutely amazing! Viveka is extremely kind and friendly! Upon arrival we got a tour of their garden where she showed us various fruit that they grow which she also picked for us to try! Her brother organised our Yala tour which was incredible! We walked through the paddy field that evening and watched the beautiful sunset. We then watched huge fruit bats flying from her garden. That night we seen so many fire flies and Viveka even provided a jar for us to collect them in! It was like a fairytale! I had dinner cooked by Vivekas mother which was so fresh and delicious. Her father was also very friendly. We really enjoyed our time here and would highly recommend

Beautiful peaceful guest house. The garden is just wonderful…. So beautifully maintained. Lots of places to sit and watch the fireflies and other creatures in the paddy fields beyond. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. It’s located close enough to Tissa to walk into town easily, but is away from the noise and bustle. It’s als a short walk to Tissa lake which is wonderful at dusk.Viveka is very friendly, warm and informative, and her mum is an excellent cook. Her brother arranged for me to go on a jeep safari which was reasonably priced.

Viveka and her family were all very kind and helpful. They offered welcome food and drinks which is lovely. The surroundings are beautiful. There is a shop for water nearby and lots more to be explored than just yala - which we didnt realise before coming to Tissa. We stayed in the budget room with a fan. It wasn't the best, quite small and hot, but it is what it says on the tin. There was a lot of mosquitos in the room, i recommend a plug repellent and that the mosquito net is raised higher as it is kind of in your face a bit. The bathroom is very dated with holes in the wall, but the shower worked well. A shower mat would be useful as water gets everywhere when showering - like most places in sri lanka. There was only 1 plug socket, which isn't ideal. I recommend an extension lead.
