Mascot Houseboats

1) Location is away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Lake on one side and a garden on the other, housing ducks and hens. Quite peaceful. 2) Staff were always present,easily accessible, and hospitable 3) Has an open and closed roof to enjoy panoramic views 4) Food was good, with decent variety and quantity 5) Shikara and road transport available via their houseboats 6) Owners were quite friendly and helped us with our itinerary & transport arrangements 7) Houseboat with beautiful & unique woodwork

What we didn't like is the presence of uninvited outside vendors who setup their makeshift shops within the houseboats selling artifacts/handicrafts and jewelry. This was not appreciated because, firstly, it defeats the purpose of coming to Kashmir and exploring their local markets, and secondly being charged unfair prices. We would love to give them business, but selling goods to people who haven't explored the local markets for high prices left a bad taste. We would advise avoiding any purchases on houseboat premises.

The boat, location and staff were all top notch; this was our honeymoon and we could not have been happier with our choice. It was so peaceful and beautiful to sit on the terrace and look out onto Lake Nigeen with the eagles and kingfishers and loads of other interesting birds flying and landing almost on top of us. We had a Shakira ride through the water lillies in the sunset that was the highlight of our holiday and the brothers who own it were well polished hosts who were a pleasure to talk to.

I cannot really think of anything I didn't like.

Bathroom mats were dirty. The food was average and little diversity. Poor breakfast for the price. Shikhara boat drivers were aggressive and demanded money even so it should have been included in the houseboat price.
