Casa CarpeDM

Casa Carpe DM is centrally located in the old city near the Basilica. We have stayed there each time we have come back to Quito. The roof top area is nice and a great way to start the day with a delicious breakfast. Fernanda is exceptional. She is very knowledgeable and helpful, sharing her passion for her city and country.

The staff at Carpe DM were very accommodating and friendly with my late arrival and onward travel. The breakfast was good and the rooftop area was nice to overlook the city. The room was comfortable and a nice hot shower. Not as nice as the images online but comfortable enough.

Unfortunately where it is situated it is very noisy at night, even with ear plugs it was a struggle to sleep. WIFI was a bit on and off during my stay.

Terrasse

Easy to access. Fernanda and the staff were fantastic.

Unfortunately CarpeDM was undergoing renovations so they are operating out of a different hotel. Hostel La Rosario. This wasn’t told to us in advance so it was very confusing. The place was very rundown, there was no communal area, and our private room had no fresh air and the bathroom was filled with black mold. We were hardly there, so it was fine (and Fernanda was wonderful) but the pics of CarpeDM looked like a fun, clean and vibrant hostel, and this was definitely not that. I wish Fernanda the best, but it should have been made clear that what we booked was not available at the time of our booking. I would love to stay at CarpeDM, but I would not stay at hostel la Rosario again.
