Beautiful old chateau situated a little way out from Saumur. Wonderful old building, full of antiques and quirky items. Huge room with very comfortable bed - felt like a lord of the manor. steps down to private bathroom - also huge and very clean. Superb breakfast and great service from the host. Lovely place to stay

The Chateau is a beautifully preserved family home, full of paintings, artwork and artefacts. Stunning, well maintained gardens and serene, sparkling clean swimming pool, a blessing in the hot weather. Monique and Mary are very helpful and friendly and gave us recommendations for sightseeing in the area. Breakfast was lovely and served in a grand dining room. The Chateau is characterful, peaceful and quiet and a good base for exploring the numerous larger chateaux and troglodyte sites in and around this part of the Loire Valley. Quick drive into Saumur which is a lively, medium sized town, with many cafes, restaurants and museums.
We found the 35 minute walk into town strenuous in hot weather. It would be helpful if the Chateau could offer some bicycles which guests could borrow. A mini refrigerator in our room and ample supplies of carafes of cold drinking water and water glasses would have been perfect.
