Nice short stay

I love the breakfast and the staffs, they are very helpful and kind. Clean room and pretty comfortable bed actually.

A lovely little hotel in a great location with a friendly staff. Perfect for a short stay!

The location was great. Only 5 minutes from the train station and 10 minutes from the town! Very friendly owners. The room was clean, comfortable, no traffic noise! Breakfast was very good, plenty of cakes to choose from. Happy to stay again.

Welcoming and good location

The owners went out of their way to make us comfortable and were helpful in suggestions for the area. We just had to go over the tracks (via bridge) to get from train station or to go into Lucca. The breakfast was nice and cappuccino was offered- we gladly accepted. We felt it was a good value.

As in all our stays there are stairs.

Nice place to stay when visiting Lucca. Recommend for solo travellers or couples on budget.

Nice guest house/small hotel, very close to the train station and the city center and is perfect for a solo traveller like myself. My room was the right size, I had a single bed, but it didn't feel small, my TV worked (although the angle was a bit ackward).. All facilities in good working order, clean towels, comfy bed, soaps and shampoos in the bathroom... I had a quite night and a good quality sleep. As an extra benefit - breakfast in the morning with some local delicatessen.. Staff is attentive, good communication overall... I stayed 2 nights and my room was cleaned after my first night, which took me by surprise! It was a great value for money for the quality of service I received. P.S. Check out the amazing pizzeria across the road!

You have to be fit to access the steps from the other side of the railway, but the train noise was minimal. The safe in our room probably needed new batteries.

The man in charge is very nice. He went out of his way to be helpful.

The reception is not manned at night. Getting in the hotel is complicated In the evening. There are lots of stairs and nobody to assist with luggage

The Albergo Moderno exceeded all expection for comfort, amenities and the friendliness of staff.

The location was ideal: a very short walk from the train station and from the city's historic heart, so an ideal base for day-trips and for visiting Lucca. Breakfast was abundant and varied, with different options for freshly made coffee. The room was surprisingly spacious with a high ceiling and, important for this traveller, cool given the perfectly functioning air conditioning.

It was great! Lucca is a beautiful city.

The location is great, as it’s just outside the walls. So, everything is at walking distance. Lorenzo was a great host. He allowed me to check in earlier and he prepared a nice early breakfast when I was leaving the hotel. Thank you very much, Lorenzo.

Perfect location

The location of this property is brilliant, close to the station to easily visit Florence and Pisa and right next to Lucca which ended up being one of our favourite places! The host was fantastic. The breakfast is nice, croissants and coffee etc. it would have been lovely to have some varied juices but we would recommend this place to anyone and we are so glad we didn’t stay in Pisa. The bed is huge and so so comfortable

A quiet room at a very convenient location.

Just a few minutes walk from the train station, yet very quiet. A short walk from Lucca's wall, which a fantastic 4 km path, excellent for running or just walking. Breakfast was pretty good.

The shower area was very small and the bathroom did not smell well. Breakfast could have had more options like eggs and more fruit choices.

Charming city

Stefano was extremely helpful giving us information about Lucca so we could make the best of our stay . We arrived by train and it was an easy quick walk to the hotel. It was located right by the walls. Breakfast was very nice.

It was close to the railway station, but quiet. A bridge led straight to the city walls and centre. Stefano and his son were welcoming and helpful, and prepared a good and varied breakfast. Our room was comfortable and clean.

Great location just by the train station and a 5 minute walk over the railway bridge to the city wall. Very friendly greeting and lots of useful information if you want it. Buffet style breakfast which was lovely. Our room was at the back and there was no noise at all. Will stay here again when we come back to Lucca.

friendly and convenient for visiting Lucca for a short time

the owner was really friendly and helpful and although outside the city walls it’s easy to get into central Lucca and the train station is very close.

the bathroom was very basic, more of a wet room, but perhaps that’s just for the single room?
