Hartwell House is a great hotel

The hotel is steeped in history and well worth a visit. Ethan and Sonnel are great ambassadors to the hotel. It is a lovely hotel to escape for a break.

It is a bit pricey and lacks a selection of glassware for a 5 star hotel. The room did not have a fridge but Ethan kindly found a small one for the room. A five star hotel should have a fridge in the room.

A wonderful nostalgic visit

We loved that Hartwell was just the same as it was 28 years ago, when we last visited for our honeymoon. It has lost none of its authentic charm. It's just fantastic. Food was also delicious.

The spa was so busy, there was nowhere to relax by the pool. Could I suggest booked times as I was super disappointed. This was a big part of my stay and I resented that I had paid a lot of money to stay at a fabulous spa hotel and couldn't relax at the spa!

A wonderful country house with spa

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house and grounds are wonderful. The spa facilities are excellent and the treatments were very good. We stayed two nights, had a little meal in the local pub (easy walk to the pub) and an excellent dinner at Hartwell House the second night. We will plan a second visit next year.

It would be helpful if the map of walks on the grounds was a little clearer as it seemed to show some walks that we couldn't do.

Memorable spa break!

Breakfast good, although bacon and sausage had been cooked for some time. Scrambled eggs very good. Dinner very expensive - we went to local pub. Spa was excellent, especially swimming pool and Club Room.

Plumbing could be modernised. Dinner too expensive.

The staff were very friendly and the spa facilities were very good.

We had the valentines menu for the evening meal. Everything was nice but on reflection we would have liked more veg (maybe some potatoes as well) with the main dish.

Lovely heritage accommodation.

Wonderful stately home style hotel. Lots of space to luxuriate in even when the hotel was full it didn't feel busy.

The only down side is that there is only one dining option which is fine dining, very good but expensive and the menu doesn't change.

Another wonderful and peaceful stay

I loved staying in my favorite room which has direct access to the lovely grounds. The room was very spacious with a large bathroom and amazing shower. What I love most about Hartwell House is the serenity, quietness and lush greenery.

Will visit again.

Staff were very attentive and the food was well presented and tasty. The Kings bedroom had beautiful views of the gardens and we saw deer and Canadian Geese there. Overall, a wonderful and interesting place to stay.

We went there for an intimate quiet Golden Wedding celebration and were thoroughly pleased.

I enjoyed my breakfast. However, we were charged for 2 breakfasts (according to the bill delivered in advance to the room), even though my wife never takes breakfast. Should we have stated that in advance?

We often find at hotels that the bathroom light is too bright. So that using the toilet during the night, one is faced with the choice of struggling in dark or using a torch.

History and luxury in the countryside

Such elegance, beauty and history! We wish we could’ve spent more than three days at the extraordinary Hartwell House. The entire staff is incredible, but a special shout out goes to John, Ethan and Matthew. Dinner was delicious and perfectly proportioned, the massage and pool area are of the highest quality, our room in the main house was spacious, and the grounds are heavenly.

Simply the best hotel I have stayed in in the UK. Warm greeting and guided tour of the facility. Stunning location and accomodation. Travelling alone dining can be daunting but the staff were exceptional.

Expensive but worth the experience.

Swimming in the pool was great as was the spa. Staff attentive and courteous. Food was delicious. Very grand main building with home comforts. TV good as was the Wi-Fi. Very peaceful.

Room a little chilly. Not keen on the bedding, one blanket and heavy counter pain cover. Would have preferred a regular duvet. After Dinner had to walk in the dark outside back to my room. Pathway poorly lit, they could have provided torches for guests whose room was not close to the restaurant.
