Old and charming
Do not drive to the door. Road very narrow. Needs some kind of shuttle service. Plumbing so so. Shower broken and no bath . Not good when paying a lot

The room felt unique and individual. The decoration was in keeping with the building and the surrounding quaint streets. The view from the room and restaurant was beautiful. It felt like a trip into a historical time which was a great experience.
The concierge could have been more responsive to our requests when we contacted them through WhatsApp and some amenities would have made a stronger impact- no kettle in the room, coffee pods were not replaced in strong quantities though the latter was replaced upon request. The minibar did not have a menu with clear prices either

The dining room and terrace enjoy superb views across the valley and towards the sea. The food was excellent and the dining room staff were charming and helpful.
Unfortunately, we had to wait over 40 minutes for the transfer to the hotel from a car park and received no apology except from the driver. Our room was a good size but the shower did not drain and overflowed into the bathroom, meaning that, after a long and tiring journey, only one of us managed to have a shower and neither of us was able to do so before breakfast the next morning. The fault was fixed the next morning but should not have happened in the first place. We booked dinner in the restaurant for our second night but were told that we could not book for the third and final night due to a special event - we had no prior warning of this and were told that we should have checked! A duty manager promised to look into some form of compensation and subsequently told us that this had been arranged and we would be very pleased by the offer - she promised to see us when we checked out. On check out, we found that she was not at work, the receptionist had no knowledge and the duty manager said that she vaguely recalled something and suggested we email the hotel. We settled our bill in full and emailed as suggested. We have received no response to two emails (one in English, one in French for the avoidance of doubt) to the manager who offered compensation. The lack of communication between colleagues, and subsequently to a customer, concerns me more than any compensation. In summary, I am really disappointed by the lack of notice about a special event, the poor arrangements on arrival and the lack of any acknowledgement from the manager. None of this should occur in a hotel that vaunts its identity as 'luxury'. Finally, I would advise potential guests to check accessibility - Cagnes is charming but full of very steep slopes, including access to the (very small) hotel swimming pool and other restaurants in the village.

Interesting property, view from restaurant impressive.
Our stay here was underwhelming. The hotel’s location is awkward and made getting to Nice station early in the morning more difficult than expected, with little help from reception so we cut our trip short. The building layout feels odd and the entrance rather dark.
Service overall was uncomfortable — on arrival we were met by a staff member who insisted we had parked in the wrong place, despite having called reception several times for directions. Check-in was long and awkward, including an unnecessary tour of the tired-looking pool, empty restaurant, and garden area. I was even asked if I was tired, which felt overly personal and out of place.
We were told we had been “upgraded,” though the room seemed much the same as the one booked, and the carpets in the corridors were noticeably worn. The hotel does not quite live up to its photos, and after staying at a true 5-star nearby, it felt surprising this one is rated 4-star. Small requests, like asking for a spoon, were also met with reluctance.
In short, while some guests may find it satisfactory, the atmosphere, service, and overall standard left us disappointed.

The amazing views, the staff, and the design of the hotel. The small village was very cute, and everyone was truly welcoming.
The double bed was not tied together, which meant that it separated during sleep.

Beautiful and charming décor, friendly and helpful staff, breakfast on the terrace, magnificent views of Nice and surrounding area.
Car parking is not at the hôtel. There is parking below the Château. You have to call the hôtel and they will send a driver to come get you.

The place, the building the staff
The only tiny details to improve are: the shower (the water invades the bathroom) and some bad smell from the bathroom pipes.

The building was just incredible, so quirky and interesting situated in the cutest little town. The restaurant was beautiful and the food and wine were delicious. Our room was so full of character with a super comfy bed and huge clean bathroom. Staff were so friendly and helpful, we really felt looked after. We absolutely loved it!

I adored this intimate historic property which I had read about over the years. They truly preserve the sense of place and it was quite romantic.
I have nothing negative to say about this property other than getting there is kind of tricky up those narrow winding roads.

The room was really comfortable, and downright beautiful. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite without extra pay, which was really awesome.
The pool, even though only indoors, was a welcome relief from the extreme heat.
The medieval village is a hidden gem, and worth exploring for a day. Even though we visited during peak tourist season, it was never full of people.
Access to beaches and meaningful public transport is very limited. This is a hideout location, not that good for exploring. It took us > 30 minutes to the train station, which, coupled with the horrid public transport in the region, made one-way trips to nearby towns an hours-long affair.
The restaurant is too damn expensive. We paid 64 € for a meager breakfast. Dinner was, while good quality-wise, also very overpriced. The staff is very friendly and helpful though.

Room was great, food was delicious (we ate all our meals onsite.) Everyone working there was very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect, we were able to walk around the old part of town and up to the village square with its outside cafes and watch people playing games in the square. Very quaint. The views are gorgeous from up there.
We liked everything about the property, no dislikes.

The location was great
The hotel room was dark. Each room is different, so I guess that can't be helped. If I were to stay again, I would prefer a more expensive room.

Room fabulous , special location
Expensive to eat

The rooms are each named after an artist and have a reproduction of a painting done by a local artist. Our room was quite spacious, the views were amazing and the bed was incredibly comfortable...I didn't want to leave. The hotel is on top of a hill in Haute Cagne and the restaurant has a balcony overlooking the surrounding areas. The food at the restaurant was delicious. The staff were super personable and helpful.
It took at least 5 minutes to get warm water in the shower. I understand that the plumbing could have challenges in this old chateau, but no one warned me about this. The hotel should post a note in the bathroom.

Gorgeous location and extremely cool facility with tons of history behind it. The view from our balcony — coastline and ocean, mountains on the side — was to die for. Being situated in the medieval village, which was fun to explore, was a bonus. Staff: Incredibly friendly and helpful. Honestly, everything was just about perfect.
Not a complaint, but there are better and worse ways to solve the access from town issue. Website is clear about three parking lots where taxi or Uber can drop you. As rookies we chose the one that required quite a hike up the hill with luggage. Call ahead and they can tell you the better options, and even pick you up at the drop point.

Nothing - it was fabulous

the property sits high above Nice. The views are really great and you can walk right out the door and have full access to the charming medieval town.

Lovely hotel with very friendly/helpful staff (especially Reginald and Fiona!) The on-site restaurant is delicious too! I would stay again.
The location is great if you want to be off the beaten path, however if you want to be closer to the action it’s a little out of the way. It’s a preference though not a bad thing!

Lovely, unique hotel with fantastic views to the sea. Room was a good size as was the bathroom and it was all very comfortable.
The restaurant was closed on a Monday night. The restaurant terrace is one of the main attractions of the hotel so it was very disappointing that it was closed. Breakfast was only OK.

Very friendly staff. High services. The place is a lovely place for vacation. We like this hotel, with the delicious breakfast. Also the dinner at the Restaurant with a fantastic view. The shuttle works very good.
Great experience.
The bed was too soft for us. This is a personal matter.

Quality of staff, location.
Little choice of courses on the restaurant’s menu.
9.0 / 10.0
The staff were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. They even dropped me to the station each morning and I could call them to meet me off the train after work. Bed was very comfortable, room quiet and large.
The only down side was not having access to internet from my room, so my data roaming charges are significant. I was in a house in the village and the wifi did not reach. It would not have been an issue if on holiday and just a daily check in but with alot of prep to do for meetings not so good. Then again this is not the normal location for a business traveller. I would have no hesitancy coming back despite the lack of internet in the room as the hotel more than made up for that issue.

Location is very special - on top of an old hill town/fortress, but still reasonably easy to reach on foot or by taxi. The town is very charming. Do read the arrival instructions which they send you prior to your stay - everything is very well explained there. The rooms are cute, have an antique feel to them. If you luck out - you may get a room with a view (some rooms have a view to the narrow street outside). The staff are all very nice and welcoming, very helpful (and speak good English). They provide recommendations and advice / directions. The whole hotel has an ancient castle feel to it, with vaulted ceilings and stone artwork from 1920ies. The restaurant is top quality and boasts an amazing view towards the coast. The breakfast was expensive but had good quality food.
The “luxury” part is kind of missing. Everything is fine but hardly astonishing.
