Everything. It is one of the cleanest, well presented, friendly and welcoming hotel I have ever stayed at. Food and Food service was exceptional, especially Q who looked after us so well when we first arrived, and always greeted us with a warm smile. Nothing is too much trouble. Its location just outside of Cape Town allowed us to have the flexibility to get to many interesting places, yet still giving us the tranquility we needed.

Air conditioning unit was very difficult to set at the desired temperature.

Beautiful

Lovely upmarket country house feel. Lovely setting for breakfast with excellent choice, fresh orange juice and pretty much anything you would want. Great service. Lovely lawned pool area with thick cushioned sunbeds. Small but perfectly adequate gym with treadmill, concept 2 rower, stepping machine, mats, free weights and strength training machine. Light and airy, clean, with air-conditioning. I didn't use the hairdresser or spa treatments but they looked very nice. Lovely evening restaurant with tasty well presented food. We were offered a late check out without even having to ask. Very much appreciated.

Sometimes the service at dinner was a bit slow in serving drinks. My first room didn't have curtains and let in too much light so I was woken very early. However the staff were excellent at resolving the complaint. I was staying with friends and we were moved to a beautiful 2 bedroom villa. Thanks to Tanya and Ashwin for sorting this out. I would recommend ear plugs the birdsong is loud and starts very early!

Perfect in every way

Breakfast has exceeded my expectations. So many options and everything was super fresh. The staff was also beyond friendly. Helping us with all our questions, greeting us with a smile every time of the day. The location was close to everything, very calm, a lot of nature and very safe. The hotel was lovely and very well maintained. Would definitely recommend and come again.

Great place for relaxation and tranquility

High quality hotel with excellent staff. Slightly disappointed that it now only has one restaurant. Gardens were beautiful and you could relax in peaceful surroundings. Liked that it had two pool areas and very comfy sunbeds.

It’s a bit out on its own, so you do really need a car or rely on taxis to get about (we did have our own rental car so it was fine for us)

A sublime and joyous travel experience

This hotel was the most beautiful place I could imagine, located at the foot of Table Mountain, a 9-acre garden lovingly maintained by a local team, with forestry and lush surrounds in pretty Constantia. The history and buildings were fascinating and awe inspiring, the service was top line and gracious and the cuisine was superb. We met a traveler from London who comes back to this glorious paradise every year (for the past 30 years), and we could truly understand why!

While the cuisine was exceptionally good value for money, this is an expensive establishment.

Historic property, in a quiet location with STUNNING gardens. Well proportioned room, with well stocked and complimentary mini bar. Friendly staff, good atmosphere. Excellent spa. Restaurant serves good food (but not fine dining), especially breakfast.

Dining room excellent. The food was good, but I did think the English breakfast could be improved upon. The menu was more than sufficient.

Everything was very fine; the reception team,the room, the restaurant staff and the food,the exceptional breakfast,the gardens...we can not complaint about anything along our three days stay.For sure, a place to return and to recommend.

Charming hotel but falls short of earn in g

The property is situated on a hillside with lush gardens, very peaceful.

In my experience the property does not really meet the international criteria for a 5 star hotel. To me it is a 4 star hotel. The services are rather limited and the execution is slow, probably due to a lack of staff training. The east facing rooms in the main building has sash windows and it’s impossible to sleep after 5am. There is no black out roller blinds in the window frame so sunlight is flooding the room. This has been commented by other reviewers but nothing has been done to correct the problem.

Wonderful stay

Excellent - large, broad, comfortable, wonderful place, with a small balcony in front a beautiful almost private garden… very good restaurant - breakfast, lunch and dinner

what is not good is the bathroom is integrated with the room without a door. This is some architect “fancy” follower the trend without any good sense. Also the windows of the bathroom weren’t completely sun light protected… the clarity enters early in the room..

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and the food was delicious. We had cocktails at the bar before dinner and they were delicious. Our room was very spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. The shower pressure was amazing!! The heated pool was such a bonus and the spa on-site was fab. We loved walking in the area as well. Overall, we absolutely loved our stay.

This has to be one of best hotels I have ever stayed in. It was immaculate throughout and beautifully decorated. The staff were exceptional. The bedding was just beautiful - Egyptian cotton of top quality.

Amazing stay!

Everything was absolutely amazing! The staff were so friendly, and could not do enough for you. The hotel was felt luxury with lots of personal touches, it felt very safe and was in a beautiful location with stunning views. Breakfast was brilliant with fabulous views. Best hotel I've stayed at for a long long time

Everything here was amazing. We were here for part of our honeymoon, which the hotel took note of and made our stay so welcoming and comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the hotel is so well looked after. The grounds and surroundings were beautiful. Constantia is a very beautiful area and we're really glad we chose this area over places like Sea Point. We felt very secure here. We made use of the transfers to the V&A waterfront and everywhere is easy enough to get to by taxi. The restaurant and bar were exceptional, with breakfast being possibly the best hotel breakfast I've ever had. We had dinner there nearly every night, which was amazing. The staff in the restaurant were all really welcoming. The outdoor swimming pools were open and were heated to a really comfortable temperature so I had no issues going for a swim despite it being winter. The room was spacious with a lovely view out as far as False Bay. The gardens were fun to walk around. There's a tennis court but unfortunately we didn't have time to use it. The spa service was also excellent. Thank you to everyone there!

Second home

Well, where to start? This was one of the most memorable travel experiences I’ve ever had. What might seem like just a hotel truly felt like a second home. From start to finish, the staff made me feel completely at ease, more like a guest in a home than in a hotel. The premises and gardens are beautifully maintained, and the Conservatory Restaurant is spectacular for every meal: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The proper turndown service and all the little touches make it the perfect place to relax and escape the crowdedness of the city. They have award winning gardens and it is mesmerizing to wander around every morning to relax. This place has already claimed its role as a true second home and I’m genuinely grateful to every staff member for delivering such quality and warmth. Truly amazing.
