About this lodge
The wonderful 'Wai Ngaio Retreat' with it's ever changing Pacific Ocean views is a large cottage set back in the hill, about 3 kms from the isolated beach settlement of Otahome, on the East Coast of the Wairarapa. The Retreat is situated on the Southern most part of Castlepoint Station.
Otahome is situated mid way between the beach resorts of Riversdale and Castlepoint and is a 45 minute drive from Masterton (the last 7kms is on a metal road).
The retreat is an ex hunting and fishing lodge that has been substantially refurbished to provide excellent accommodation for up to 20 persons and is furnished to a high standard with mod cons, including dish washer and disabled shower room. The ideal cottage for large groups of friends, families or corporate/business bookings.
Here you have the beach almost to yourselves, it is approx 5kms away, only a few minutes drive. Enjoy walks along the beach, paddling in the sea, rock pools or lagoons. You can fish from the beach, watch out for seals and even pick paua off the rocks at low tide!
Wai Ngaio Retreat has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a large open plan living, dining area with separate kitchen. All beds and bunks are king singles and have mattress and pillow protectors as well as a fitted bottom sheet and pillow case, BYO sleeping bags or duvet and towels.
The retreat has good disabled facilities with a ramp access and a disabled bathroom. Not forgetting the huge flat screen TV/DVD with 'Freeview' for your entertainment.
Private and peaceful, this is the perfect place for large family, friends or corporate groups to get together for some fun on the Wairarapa Coast and enjoy the rural and coastal atmosphere Wai Ngaio and the East Coast has to offer.

Cleaning and breakages bond of $200 required with every booking. This is refunded (7 days) after check-out.
BYO sleeping bag or duvet and towels. Bottom sheet, pillow and pillow case supplied.

Clean up and leave the retreat as found please, or a $35 per hour extra cleaning charge will apply to your bond.
NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave; Bring your own sleeping bag or duvet and towels - tea towels are provided.

Lovely and spacious property with amazing views and remote/rural feel.
Made full use of the large, fenced section which was ideal for young kids and lawn games etc. We managed to go diving and get a limit of Paua from the nearby beach which was great.
Very enjoybale stay and great way to bring in the New Year.

We had 16 people and we all fit. Lots of lounge space and the big tables were great. Good views and flat area for playing on. Good fishing, not far to beach for adventures (swimming beach at Riversdale, 25 mins drive).

Loved staying here! It's a peaceful location with beautiful views. We had a large group and the space was big enough for all of us while still feeling cosy. Loved having the fire in winter and everyone appreciated the comfortable beds. It was really easy heading down the road to find the beach which was fun to explore. The hosts we're excellent at communication. Would love to come back!
