About this cottage rental
Pictured Rocks Family Rentals welcomes you to The Pines! Quaint lakefront cottage on Furnace Lake. It is conveniently located right off M28 in Christmas, less than 5 miles from downtown Munising, the beginning of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. There are 3 bedrooms and 1.5 baths. Our cottage offers 1 king bed, 1 queen bed, and 2 full beds. Come up to enjoy Pictured Rocks & numerous waterfalls in the area. Only 2 blocks from Christmas ORV/snowmobile trailhead.
Central air conditioning was added to the home on the summer of 2021. The second bedroom here is a little odd, it used to be a jacuzzi tub room. The jacuzzi tub was removed, and now there is a bed in there. The room still has a toilet and sink in it. We have added a curtain to block toilet view from bed. While it is unusual, we think it is worth keeping to have an extra lavatory for larger groups. The third bedroom is a heated 4 season porch bedroom with both a queen bed and a full bed in it. We added a tankless water heater in January 2024, now there is unlimited hot water, so nobody has to dread being the last one to take a shower :) The home has a beautiful view (especially for evening sunsets!) overlooking Furnace Lake and is very quiet and peaceful. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do! Included with your stay is a row boat and a couple kayaks. The red outbuilding closest to the garage has some life jackets, oars, and the kayaks in it. Up to 2 dogs are allowed with preapproval, but there is a $75 non refundable pet fee that will need to be added.
Guests have full access to the home, garage, red outbuilding next to garage, and yard. The red outbuilding near the road is not available to guests.
We live nearby if you should need anything, but will not come over unless asked to. If you have any questions or concerns, please message through the app or call me if an emergency.
The neighborhood is an area of cottages and year round homes. It is quiet and private, and quiet time is from 10 pm to 8 am. The home is within walking distance to Foggy's Steakhouse, Kewadin Casino and gas station/party store. The trailhead for area ATVs/snowmobiles is only 2 blocks away and can be ridden to from home.
-Signed rental agreement and security deposit hold required for all reservations. Primary guest will need to send a picture of government issued ID and list names and ages of all other guests in their group.
-No parties or events allowed
-Quiet time is from 10 pm to 8 am
-No smoking allowed in the home, outside and in garage is ok. Please properly dispose of butts. $250 fine for smoking inside home
-There are 2 exterior audio/video recording security devices that are on 24/7, and motion activated. One faces the entry doors going into home and the garage, while the other one faces the driveway from the corner of the porch/entry door.

A fantastic trip!! Danielle was so great at communicating and every need was met! The stay was booked for a physically challenged family and Danielle was very understanding of the extra needs and she and her husband did the absolute best for us!!The cottage is amazing and feels like home! We really enjoyed our stay at The Pines in Christmas, MI! It was the perfect cozy overnight stop on our trip across the UP. We only wished we could’ve stayed longer but our itinerary didn’t allow it— but we’ll be sure to come back and book this place again! It was a great set up for our family and we particularly enjoyed the living area for late night conversations, coffee (provided by host!) and breakfast at the kitchen table, and the scenic lake views with true fall colors!

The location is outstanding- a scenic lakehouse on a quiet and clean lake in a safe neighborhood and a private dock with access to kayaks and a boat. Only 5 minutes from downtown Munising and 7 minutes from a major grocery that has anything you could want from a hot deli to full bar. The house is so cozy and loved, there is a tankless hot water heater so we always had hot showers and a gas fireplace with an extra heater on the porch for sleeping under the stars and right next to the lake. So many touches made us feel welcomed. We really loved staying here. I highly recommend it!

Very nice property. Enjoyed the quiet time however, it is a great family location as well. Hiking around the local area was awesome.
