Stunning Pool with Ocean View From Private Lanai 1200' Above Sea Level!

The host was nice and had everything we needed to prep some of our own food to save money. The outdoor space was a nice place to spend the afternoon and the pool was clean and cooling. They had all the beach essentials like chairs, umbrellas, and gear for the ocean. Would definitely stay there again.

We have been to the island many times and usually stay in the heart of Kailua Kona, but we decided to change it up this trip. We are so happy we did! The location of this property is fantastic. You are so close to Kona, Costco, the upper highway and the beaches. The rental was so incredibly well equipped with everything you could could need. We loved that after a day on the beach that we could go back and the temperature is cooler. The views from the lanai are amazing. We could see the whales from there. Melia and Sam were great hosts. They are so nice and personable. They fresh fruit was great too! This is really a fantastic spot to relax and recharge! The pictures don’t do it justice! We will definitely be back to this property!

After having difficulty logging into VRBO, host responded quickly with checking in info. Home is beautiful with overlook of ocean from the deck with pool. Host was very friendly gave us recommendations of places to go and things to do, as well as lots of info about life in Hawaii. Highly recommend this property to fellow travelers.

This is a sweet spot with cool nights due to the higher elevation. Very close to the best beaches in Kona - also close to the airport, Costco and the good restaurants in Kailua. The view here is better than advertised, the infinity pool is stunning and we slept well with ample fans and comfy beds. The lanai is great for morning coffee, afternoon relaxing or evening drinks - the only sound we heard was from the birds. Great for a family or two couples. The host, although living above us, was amazing at balancing privacy and attention when we needed anything. They have everything you’ll need for the beach including towels, boogie boards, kids toys, bags, coolers and snorkel gear. There is no stove-top in the kitchen but we were allowed to use the huge new grill on the lanai for fish, burgers and veggies. A plug in stove top is also available for making Mac n cheese for kids. I honestly didn’t miss or need a stove and we cooked most nights. The kitchen is well stocked for whatever you want to prepare - and frankly an oven is not very useful in Hawaii. 5 stars all the way, we hope to be back next year.

What a wonderful host Melia is! Kona Palisades is on the lower floor of a two-story home. Despite the owners (hosts) living upstairs -they were NOT intrusive- we truly felt we had a separate living space; their deck provided shade for the lanai off the unit. We felt the cost was fair. Rental has a well-stocked "kitchenette" (no stove or dishwasher) yet a full-sized refrigerator. We rented in early October, with daytime high temperatures in the low 80-degree range. There is no central a/c, (we didn't want to hole up in a climate-controlled rental!) yet a sufficient amount of large ceiling fans doing a fine job of keeping the unit from being stifling. Best of all, every window has insulated drapes, giving us the option to block out direct sunlight when necessary. It is a clean and maintained unit, though it is worn. In particular, the living room couch cushions slid and were uncomfortable when sitting for long periods of time. Also, a problem with the internet connection to the TV was never resolved but we used the 55'ish" Smart TV as a large monitor with our laptops, to stream our apps. My favorite pastime was hanging out on the spacious lanai with my Kindle, having direct access to the infinity pool, and a wonderful view of the coastline! When it was time to escape the sun & humidity and return indoors, the west facing windows & large sliding glass door brought the outdoors inside. Forget other rentals; Kona Palisades provided all we needed w/o foot traffic noise of hotels!

We had a warm welcome from our host. Our house was furnished with everything we needed. The pool was relaxing and we loved watching the beautiful sunsets from the pool or on the lanai as we ate our meals. It’s the perfect place, like a home away from home.

You could not imagine a more lovely place and more wonderful host than Melia and her home. The pictures simply do not do justice to the magnitude of the beauty. We awoke every morning and had coffee as we gazed at the Pacific, listening to a symphony of birds (and thankfully, far fewer roosters than most other places we have stayed). Melia has a really genuine and warm sense of hospitality, and you feel this at a human level and also in what a generous and thoughtful host she is. The place itself is really, really nice, has everything you need and has *nice* things - like fluffy towels and nice sheets and great cooking gear. She also has everything you need for the beach, and the place is only 20 minutes from our favorite beach. Also 20 minutes from hiking in the cloud forest. And if you don’t want to go anywhere, you can hang out on the lanai and enjoy the incredible pool, and views. We will most certainly be back - to see Melia again (and her sweet little dog) and because this is a fantastic place to stay.

My husband and I spent a week here and loved every day of our stay. The pictures do not do the outdoor spaces justice - the pool area is expansive and perfect for sunbathing and taking in the sights of the coast below you. Melia was a generous and gracious host and even went so far as to leave us a gift to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for a rental in the Kona area.

Pure Aloha…both the accommodations and the host. Melia and her cute dog, Ginger greeted us each morning. Melia is a kind host who offered us recommendations and baked us banana bread. The unit is comfortable, clean, quite, and safe. It had every beach item you would need in the garage. It is in a perfect location on the Kona side. We can’t wait to go back. A hui hou, Melia and Ginger!

We really enjoyed the location and all the beach items that were provided with the house. The view was outstanding the house was so very clean and comfortable for all of us. Chad and Luke very helpful. Would love to come back for another stay.

We stayed here for a little over 3 weeks in 2018 and again Jan 12th through Feb 6th, 2020. The suite is just as wonderful the second time around; clean, comfortable, tastefully decorated, and well stocked with all the modern household amenities and beach accessories one could ask for. We also particularly enjoyed the evening BBQ’s & sunset views from the deck, great location with slightly cooler temperatures at this higher elevation, and gracious hospitality of Luke and his son Chad who live downstairs. We had plans to visit most of the Island and this was a very central starting point. The home was stocked with all that we needed including coffee for our first morning. (which was needed. Melia, Sam and Luke were amazing! Melia was responsive to my pre-stay questions and always communicated well so we knew what to expect. All three greeted us upon our arrival. Melia showed us the amenities, gave us an understanding of the area, e.g. grocery stores, things to do. The bathroom and kitchen were well stocked with basic amenities. We had access to a washer/dryer, beach towels, snorkeling gear. I can say without exaggeration that her hospitality and home were the best VRBO experiences we have had. I highly recommend her lodging if you are visiting the Kona area. It is extremely well-situated! Mahalo, Melia, Sam and Luke!

Our time at this rental property was wonderful. We arrived late in the evening after a flight from LA and were greeted by Luke, the supervisor of the rental and who lives downstairs. He took the time to show us all around and explain where all of the items we might need during our stay were kept. He encouraged us to look through the cabinets and refrigerator before going to the store since there was a lot of spices and condiments already there. This rental was wonderful!! It had just about everything we needed to cook our meals as well as enjoy the beach. The garage had boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, huge beach towels, coolers, sunscreen, and more!! We had access to the washer and dryer, also in the garage, and their supply of detergent and fabric softener, which to me was a great bonus!! The property sits up on a hill, in development which overlooks the ocean. Beautiful view from the lanai. As an added bonus, on Christmas Eve Luke's son, Chad, spoke to me about putting up a Christmas tree for us. I declined at first since we were leaving the next morning but he insisted on letting our family enjoy the tree. He put it up while we were away for a few hours and my kids all got a nice surprise when they returned to the rental. Luke and Chad went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. This rental property cannot be beat and if we ever return to the big island, I will be sure to inquire about this property again! Thank you for the wonderful time!!

We were there for a working vacation, the amenities were spot on, the location yielded great access to all the necessities and provided amazing sunset views each night. Highly recommend staying here.

I have rented several homes over the years on vacation and this rental has been my favorite so far! The owner has put a lot of time and effort into making this feel like a home away from home. They have great decor and there are so many little details in the home that make it special. From receiving a pineapple as a welcome gift to having all the right beach supplies (boogie boards, beach chairs, snorkel gear, towels, kids sand toys, coolers, sand mats, and even sunscreen which we forgot to pack) was incredible. Even the bathroom was fully stocked with shampoo, bar soap, face masks, and band-aids (for our aching feet from exploring and hiking the island). The ocean and sunset view from the lanai are not ones to be missed! It was very nice to have neighbors downstairs to greet us when we arrived at the home and we even got their tips on good late night restaurants to dine at during our stay. The home is located in the midst of a residential neighborhood which made us feel like we truly lived here and we still had quick easy access to all the shops, restaurants, grocery stores, and beaches in the Kona area. I know if we ever are able to visit the Big Island again we will not hesitate to stay here again. It is no wonder that so many people are repeat renters to this beautiful home. As all the other reviews say, this is a GREAT rental. Melia and Sam have provided everything you might need and more. Luke and Chad welcomed us and were on property in case we had questions or issues but there were none. We felt like ohana even before we arrived. Everything was clean, comfortable and well-stocked. The location is a great base for all your island exploration plus they have nice beach gear, coolers, and more. There is no AC but it isn't necessary at that elevation and we kept cool with the ceiling and oscillating fans. We ate all our meals on the covered lanai and the view is stunning. I highly recommend this rental and hope to stay again!

The house had everything we needed and was centrally located for exploring everything the Big Island has to offer. Luke was an incredible host. We explored a different part of the island each day and would try to be home for dinner on the lanai for unbelievable sunsets!

The "Stunning Ocean View From Private Lanai 1000' Above Sea Level" is everything it's advertised to be and even more! The house is quite new with modern appliances. Everything you would need for an awesome stay has been taken care of. Beach chairs, cooler, towels, etc. can be borrowed as well. We like the Kona Palisades subdivision where this rental is located because it's centrally located and near all the Kona attractions without being down in the hustle and bustle of Alii Drive. Luke and Chad (residents in the lower unit) are very helpful and there for anything you may need, but they also let you have your space. The deck is amazing with a newer grill to cook your meals while watching the sunset. I've rented many times with VRBO and this is certainly among the best I've ever rented. I can assure you that you will not be disappointed!
