CUTE NEIGHBORHOOD
Half residential, half vacation homes. Quiet street. Great for a little kid to bike ride or skateboard up and down.
HIKING
For starters, at the end of Thomas, the fire road goes up to miles of hiking in the woods between our neighborhood and Tahoe Donner.
Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). Donner Rim Trail. Truckee Legacy river trail.
WATER
Donner Lake State Park with it's channels, beaches and public docks. Big Blue, i.e., Lake Tahoe – Need I say more?
OTHER RECREATION
The community pool (at the high school a mile away) is open year-round for lap swim and the community center has a gym with a running track for workouts - just a $5 drop-in fee.
Lots of places to buy and rent gear. Skiing. Snowboarding. Snowshoing. Skating. Road biking. Mountain biking. Paddleboarding. Kayaking. Angling. Fly-fishing.
There's a fun-run, lake swim, triathlon, paddleboard race, car show or other fun event just about every weekend in the summer.
DOGS
Dogs roam free in the mountains, but they're all pretty friendly and used to the outdoors, people and cars. We keep our little guy on a leash, because he's a city dog.

Everything you would want for a snow cabin experience and more. Everything worked, there were plenty of household appliances and the fireplace pumped some heat! The neighbors were very friendly especially if you had a dog. Owner was super helpful and available. Beds were 10 out of 10 comfortable. Would highly recommend.

Our family had a wonderful first trip to truckee/Lake Tahoe. Cabin had everything we needed and it was in a perfect location;close to downtown truckee & Donner state park & easy trip to Tahoe. The cabin had a bunch of games, books and a great backyard with spa,bbq and gas fire pit perfect for roasting marshmallows with the kids. The host was easy to reach and responded quickly to any questions we had. I would 100% recommend this cabin and our family would love to stay here again.

You will not be disappointed staying in the beautiful cottage. The home is the perfect combination of off the beaten path in a quiet forest near downtown Truckee but at the same time is right near all of the amenities. 3 grocery stores are within a 5 minute drive, you can get to Daves for all of your ski/ snowboard rental needs, and to downtown Truckee for fun on the town. Squaw and Alpine are just a 20 minute drive away - truly ideal!
The house itself is incredibly well stocked with basics like spices, flour, and everything a cooking aficionado needs! There are multiple grills, a hot tub, a beautiful and quiet backyard and really awesome neighbors who are super welcoming.
The bedrooms are all well stocked with plenty of linens, great functional furniture and beds for all types of friends and families. Mel has setup a king bed, a queen bed and four twin beds!
Finally the fireplace is nice and warm there is well-stocked fire wood, and everything stays in great shape when the snow falls.
Overall, I couldn't recommend Donner Bliss more - Mel is super communicative, really cares about the Truckee community, and is eager to help make your trip awesome. I can't wait to book with Mel again and hope to stay at her other property in the future - she is truly a dream host! Thank you Mel :D
