Gulbju māja - Swan house

This place is very special to our family, and we come back every summer. We’ve stayed in the resort’s different lake houses and all have been great. The Swan House is cozy and charming, and since it’s only reachable by boat, it was an extra adventure for our child. Waking up to the sounds of the lake—fish jumping, raindrops (we had a few during our stay), the wind in the reeds, and birdsong—was simply magical. The owner is a wonderful lady, full of energy and creative ideas. Her warm hospitality and the super tasty pancakes she made for breakfast made our stay even more memorable.

The Swan House does not have a shower or sink, but with the lake all around, it wasn’t really a problem for us.

The natural surroundings, watching the birds, barbecue on the deck, enjoying the view. Staff were friendly and approachable. Quirky design and having to row ourselves out to the room added to the experience. Breakfast hamper delivered to the Swan House was an extra special touch (breakfast was extra cost, but delicious)

Lack of curtains on the picture window meant the sunlight came in very early (almost midsummer when we stayed). Can't be mad at that view though

Design, location, concept, nature

The house itself was very nice, comfy, cozy and a beautiful view. It was very quiet and calm all around. Overall that was the only pleasent thing about our stay.

Starting off, we had very little privacy because the other houses were very close by. We were expecting a normal kitchen and bathroom ( shower/toleit, etc.) but were left with a few plates and only the portable toilet in the house. The bathroom in the nearby facilitie was disgusting- water had a horrible smell, very unhigenic and not cleaned properly. If you are not a fan of spiders then dont go there. Spiders were everywhere- in the shower, all over the toilet/ bathroom, in the house, the kitchen etc. Basically a spider infestation👎🏻 Now about the kitchen and other appliances. The kettle was dirty, the water in the dispenser was yellow, there was only a vey old stove that was impossible to use and no proper appliances for cooking. You also can only lock the house door from the inside so if you are planning to go far and leave it unattended then be vary that it wont be locked and your things wont be safe.I would say, the price we paid was not worth it just for the cute room and the location . :(
