About this apartment rental
The apartment Omfali is located between Malia and Sissi in an altitude of about 80 meters on a quiet hill. From the panoramic terrace you have a breathtaking view over the bay of Malia with the fantastic sunsets in the sea and onto the Dikti-Mountains. Omfali is the upper apartment in a house with 2 apartments (downstairs: Alkmini no: 24922). Omfali is modern and comfortably equipped and has access down to the garden over some stairs. To Malia with the most beautiful sandy beaches you need about 5 minutes by car, to Sissi on the other side, also about 5 minutes.
Excursions: Malia is a very central destination to start for many beautiful excursions all over Crete: to the famous excavations of Knossos, into the mountains to the plateau of Lassithi and the cave where Zeus was born..., to Agios Nikolaus and the small island of Spinalonga, to Rethymnon or to Chania, etc. 1-day-cruises to Santorini are possible, as well as hiking tours through the impressive Samaria-gorge.
Walks: All around our hill leads a hiking pass, about 45 minutes, partly bad road, that invites for a panoramic walk.

Wir haben den Aufenthalt im gut ausgestatteten Ferienhaus sehr genossen. Der Meerblick ist einfach traumhaft und Kerstin hat uns wunderbar umsorgt.
Das Haus liegt sehr ruhig und doch ist man schnell in Malia oder Sisi, auch der Strand ist mit dem Auto bequem zu erreichen.
Für Erkundungen in Ostkreta ist es ein prima Quartier. Wir können es wärmstens weiterempfehlen.

The location is outstanding with sunset view above the bay of Malia. Our host were very welcoming and the facilities were great and comfortable. Very well maintained with a gorgeous garden. Sissi village is few kilometres down the road with great restaurants at the waterfront. The only thing is that if you don't like having cats around, it is not a place for you. They really like hanging around on your balcony.
We really enjoy our one week, it is a great value.

Wir waren 13 Nächte im April in Omfali und wir sind begeistert.
Die Wohnung ist geschmackvoll eingerichtet und es ist alles vorhanden, was man in einer FeWo braucht.
Auch die Lage ist herrlich. Ruhig, nicht weit vom Ort und mit einer grandiosen Aussicht.
Die "Mitbewohner" (tierischer Natur) sind alle lieb und unaufdringlich.
Nur den Wind nach Bedarf an- bzw. abzustellen, müsste Kerstin noch lernen. Alles andere kann man nicht besser machen.

Wir haben die 14 Tage über Ostern 2018 intensiv genossen. Die Wohnung und das Außengelände waren ein hervorragender Stützpunkt für Ausflüge in die nähere und etwas weitere Umgebung. Beeindruckt haben uns die Zeugnisse einer jahrtausende alten Hochkultur in fußläufiger Nähe (anschließend die Besichtigung der Exponate im Museum in Heraklion). Neben weiteren Exkursionen nach Agios Nikolaios und in die Hochebene von Lasithi ging es immer wieder auch zu Fuß nach Sissi und Milatos. Nicht zuletzt wegen des freudigen Empfangs durch die Hunde (und Katzen) bei unserer Rückkehr, fühlten wir uns schon nach kurzer Zeit in Omphali ganz zu Hause.
Da Kerstin Kirmizakis beruflich unterwegs war, wurden wir sehr nett und aufmerksam von ihrem Mann und ihrem Sohn betreut.
